Re: [slim] NetBook (e.g. Acer Aspire One) as server for SqueezeCentre
as long as the netbook meets the minimum specs for the squeezecenter software it should be fine, as since your music is flac the software shouldn't have to encode the music first. if you get a qnap you can actually install slimserver or squeezecentre on it so you dont even need a pc running to play music, but i have found the web interface is slower than using pc/laptop as server for the software. cheapest option might be to get a usb HDD for the music and plug it into the netbook. -- terry_gardener terry_gardener's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53429 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] squeezebox duet controller
i have just seen a couple of reviews of the duet and it seems really good but just have a couple of questions. 1. how does the controller connect to the receiver and/or squeezecentre. 2. can the squeezecentre 7.0 be installed on the qnap ts101. 3. is the only difference between the duet and squeezebox 2 the controller. 4. I dont have the wifi turned on because it doesn't reach very far. can this still work by ethernet including the controller. thanks -- terry_gardener terry_gardener's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=44707 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] squeezebox duet controller
if you can adhoc wifi connect the controller with the receiver and connect the receiver via ethernet that would be ok. if the above cannot be done what is the range on the controller becaused my sb2 doesn't connect properly using wireless due to the range -- terry_gardener terry_gardener's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=44707 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] networking
please can someone help with this. i currently have my main router downstairs as it needs to be connected to the master socket for the broadband connection. i have connected to an old vonage linksys router (temp solution), so at the moment config is router - ethernet - 2nd router - ethernet to devices. besically what i would like to do is setup the network in this way. Router (connected to internet) - straight thru ethernet - switch/hub - straight thru ethernet to p.c's and xbox360 and sb2 and qnap ts101. is this possible or do i need cross over cable. Router is the sky router (netgear) and the switch i was thinking of getting is netgear gs605. i was wanting to do it this way is because i want to use dchp server on the main router so i can reserve ip addresses also switch i was thinking of getting is gigabit switch. -- terry_gardener terry_gardener's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35804 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] TS101 + Slimserver
instead of typing cd/share/HDA_DATA/Public try typing cd /share/HDA_DATA/Public. i made this mistake at first. there is a space between cd and /share -- terry_gardener terry_gardener's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35693 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Slimserver Problems running on Windows Vista
i have recently upgarded to windows vista ultimate (32 bit) from xp home and cant get slimserver to work properly. it just seems to crash at lot of the time, mainly when accessing folders that the music is stored in. (ie artist-album name-then crashes when trying to go into this folder) i even tried to add the slim.exe, the slimtray and the web interface programs to the exceptions list of windows firewall but still the same. i have even tried turning off the firewall and still the same. when i try to access the same folders from the player the same thing happens it just freezes and nothing happens.
