[slim] Re: Controling an SB2 via RS232
Why don't you use a small microcontroller and a IR LED to blast in the codes? That way you don't muck with the SB2 and you can easily write ucode to translate RS232 data into IR. I believe the IR codes for all the SB2 commands are documented. If you want to bypass the IR section, you can probably figure out the IR receiver on the SB2. Without even looking I would guess that they are using an IR module that does the demodulation/remove carrier freq stuff and just spits out the raw data. Just cut that module out (figuratively of course) and use your micro to inject the signal directly in to wherever it ends up going (I'm guessing to the DSP) Trash -- trash trash's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1627 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32073 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: request - display issues
I believe there is a setting in the Player-> Display page that says something like Brightness Control. It can be set to Auto or Manual. Choose manual, and whatever setting your brightness is will remain. [slim] Slimserver 6.2. Bug 2378 fixed(implemented), but no docs?
Bug 2378 is actually a feature request for a geekport type idea. In the 6.2 release notes it says this was implemented. Is there any documentation on this? Any small microcontroller will be able to handle the serial input and react in a certain way. Over here in Canada anyways, some PIC micros are less than $1 each! And they are so low power that it could probably run off the headphone jack (i.e in a stereo headphone jack, the left could be the serial signal, and the right could be constant on at max volume which, if I understand, would be around + 3 volts.) I would like to see this as well, except maybe something a bit more generic (i.e some simple serial communication style like plain serial port data (8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit), or I2C, or ???) At least this way you can task the output of the geekport for what you need, rather than just burning the port for a simple on/off switch. Heck, the data out of the geekport doesn't need to be fast. Anything in the 1200->9600 baud range would be fast enough for turning on switches/led's Trash -- trash trash's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1627 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=17974 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Geekport: Used for other things
I understand on the Squeezebox2 the headphone jack can also be used as the geekport (I think version 22 firmware is going that way with IR blaster). Can it be tasked for something else? I.E an I2C port or general async serial? Trash -- trash ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
