Re: [slim] 2 computers 1 squeeze box

2007-04-18 Thread Michael Herger
Is there an easy way to alternative between 2 (notebook desktop)
computers and 1 squeeze box with out having to go thru the whole
 installation process each time.

If you want to do it using a web interface you might give ServerSwitcher a
try:

Re: [slim] 2 computers 1 squeeze box

2007-04-18 Thread brucegrr

If Slimserver is resident on the desktop you can use your laptop and
browser and http://192.168.0.136:9000/
(or whatever the ip address of the squeezebox is)to access slimserver.
It does not need to be installed on both computers.

The above scenario presupposes your computers are networked.

Re: [slim] 2 computers 1 squeeze box

2007-04-18 Thread 4mula1

Awhile back I suggested having a plugin that could make one SlimServer a
client of another, but nobody seemed interested. I currently have two
SlimServers running, one for my wife's iTunes collection and one for
mine. Sure, it's easy to alternate back and forth, but wouldn't it be
nice to browse the other seamlessly?

I originally wanted to connect my parent's SlimServer to mine, but
there really isn't a practical way. The best I could do is setup an
SSH tunnel and use stream.mp3, but that leaves a lot to be desired.

From the main SB menu, press and hold the left arrow key on the remote.
That will bring you to a set of options that will include setup,
logging in to SqueezeNetwork, and logging in to each of the slimservers
the SB finds on your network. Scroll to the laptop you want, press the
right arrow to connect.
