Maybe someone can help me with this problem. I have done a search of the FAQ and this forum but can't find an answer to this question. When browsing by album using the handheld skin on a PDA, when selecting an album, the cover art, when present, is displayed at whatever size it happens to be, so it can be the size of a postahe stamp or you can only see the top left hand corner. Is there any setting that can set the cover art to always display at 100x100 or 175x175. Hi: I just converted a bunch of music into flac format using dbpoweramp and loaded it into my music library. I rescanned the library and everything came across fine, but some of the albums have artwork and others don't. My question is once it is in the library is there a way to "get album artwork" like in itunes? I want to put a folder.jpg in all my folders. Now I have scanned all my covers of the cd's I'm going to resize it for showing in Slimserver as thumbnail (left panel) and showing in the status display(right panel) in skin 'Fishbone'. I have some questions before doing this. I read this in the wiki > There are two file sizes in use in the current skins. I have some albums that are not on Amazon so I will resize them from my own scans. Do I need to make two files i.e. folder.jpg and thumb.jpg because they use different sizes (100x100 and 300x300)? When the covers are on Amazon what size is preferable 300x300 or 500x500? I have already some 'folder.jpg' files with a size of 500x500. Will I get better quality result when I only use 300x300 images, so SlimServer don't have to resize? In the future I will maybe buy another Squeeze Controller what pixel size is the best for the screen? Any tips are welcome how I should resize the current scans. Since Album Art Aggregator no longer works (why is that?), does anyone out there have a recommendation for the best current solution to adding album art to FLAC files? I use EZ CD DA Extractor to rip my cd's, and the newest version has a function to download album art, which it seems to save as metadata rather than as a separate jpeg file. Slimserver doesn't seem to be able to read that metadata. Even if it did, it wouldn't help with all of past ripped albums for which I'm missing artwork, so I really need something which will perform the function that Album Art Aggregator used to. [slim] Album Art?
After ripping my CDs to .mp3 using several programs, but mainly Audiograbber, many didn't then have cover art. I then fetched covers using Album Art Aggregator, and placed appropriate image file, named cover.jpg, in each of the Albums' folders - I use the structure My Music\Artist\Album. Slimserver doesn't recognise these cover.jpg files, though, even if I do a rescan, i.e the new covers are not being displayed. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong, what I need to do to get Slimserver to 'integrate' these covers into its database or whatever? [slim] Album art plugin?
There was some interesting stuff posted a couple of months ago that demonstrated how an interpolated rendition of the album cover art could be scrolled across the screen of the SB1 via a script. Was this plugin ever fully developed or are their plans to do something like this? It seems that this would be a really cool way to showcase the extra horsepower and improved display on the new SB2. [slim] Album Art 6.5b1
Just got my Nokia 770 and immediately upgraded to test out the Nokia skin. Mac OS X.4, itunes, 6.5b1 - prior to this I was using 6.2.1. I have my album art under Artist,Album, cover.jpg. The only Album Art I can see now is the ones I have in iTunes. I did a rescan on a 6000+ song count and it seemed to take way longer than before. Any Help - I didn't put this in the Nokia post because it's universal with all skins. I am running squeezebox server on a vortexbox. My cover art is all screwed up. In album art view it will not show. When I click on the album is there. The files have cover.jpg and folder.jpg as album art and have the art in the tags. I'm doing some tests with resizing. Now I see if I use maximum jpeg quality in Adobe Photoshop (12) the result is the best. The filesize is ~350KB. When I use medium quality (5) the filesize is ~80KB. I use the skin 'fishbone'. I load all the thumbnails when I browse through the albums. I have sometimes more than hundred albums in one page. Will a larger thumbnail i.e. 350-80KB slow it down? Will higher quality thumbnails slow rendering? SlimServer is connected on a Gigabit connection. But if you really want to display _hundreds_ of albums, the transfer of hundreds of files will take its time. And processing the images before caching them will also need considerable CPU power and memory. Most of my artwork files are below 300x300 pixels. [slim] Album Art Disappearing
Most of my album art is no longer visible through the Nokia 770 skin or others that display artwork. Only the most recently ripped albums have visible artwork. OTOH, Moose has no obvious problem displaying the artwork. I first started noticing this running SqueezeCenter beta. I did not give it much thought because I had artwork problems with Slimserver but they usually resolved themselves with rescans. Now I am running SqueezCenter release. Any idea what is causing the album art to not be displayed? I thought that Duet was supposed to pull whatever folder.jpg file you have in the same folder with the music. I am finding that not to be the case. I had spent quite a bit of time pulling (or scanning) correct cover art for all my albums. Squeezecenter, however, is pulling art from online somewhere for some reason. I see there are at least 50 albums in my collection for which the art shown is not what I have in the folder. What's up? What setting do I need to change? [slim] Album Art Confusion
My Squeezebox Controller is showing the image for "Bruce Springsteen Greatest Hits" for the sleeve of my ZZ Top Greatest Hits album. My music is managed by iTunes and so both albums are stored in completely different file paths, e.g. iTunes Music > Bruce Springsteen > Greatest Hits for one and iTunes Music > ZZ Top > Greatest Hits for the other. I've double checked and the folder.jpg file within the ZZ Top Greatest Hits folder is clearly the one for ZZ Top, also the album art has been embedded within all the music files and is present and correct. I use Tag & Rename software for this. [slim] Album art format
I have just purchased a Duet, and I have to say that I've been very pleased with it. Setting up was pretty straightforward, apart from a minor hiccup which was resolved with help from these forums. I ripped my CD collection a couple of years ago, and this is the first time I've used anything other that a PC to play it. Anyway.. I have stored my album art, which is a mixture of sleeve scans and downloads, in the form of a folder.jpg file in each directory containing an album. This seems to work well for the Duet controller / SqueezeCenter, but about a quarter of them don't show. These are scattered rather than being at the end of the collection. The jpg files view OK on every other piece of software I've tried them with. Is there a limitation I should be aware of which I need to conform with to show up ? You shouldn't have to resize anything, SS/SC and the SBC do all the resizing for you. I would go with 500 X 500. It'll be reduced from there. Bigger filesizes will always slow it down as there's more to download. It honestly depends on what you're prepared to look at. Yeah, upgrading to .NET 3.0 killed it for me. I switched to 'Album Cover Art Downloader' (http://louhi.kempele.fi/~skyostil/projects/albumart/). Takes a bit of getting used to, but it pulls from more sources and has more options. Check out CD Art Display here: http://www.closetosoftware.com/?s=cdartdisplay. It downloads art and lyrics and can display them in a popup, along with album info. Did you scan them into the SlimServer prior to finding the art? If so, I've noticed that it doesn't EVER reload the image from the cover.jpg file unless you totally clear all and rescan. I had a few that were incorrect (I found a better image) and a couple that took a while to find. You may want to batch rename them all to folder.jpg if you ever want to use Moose. Yup, as dwilliams01 says, you have to do a total clear and rescan for slimserver to pick up new coverart properly. A rescan on it's own isnt enough. In fact, if you play a newly added album before it's been through a clear and rescan, slimserver will pick up the coverart and display it, but it wont associate it with the underlying album. In Moose, if you use the mysql scanning option, it should pick up whatever slimserver's picked up. If you folder-scan it's slightly more limited, but should pick up cover.jpg. i'm probably gonna kick myself at how easily this can be fixed, but i've been searching through the Server settings for a while now so that i can browse my music with the album artwork showing up first. I have saved cover.jpg and thumb.jpg files to several of my album folders and done a clear and rescan, but no artwork shows up either in browse artwork or when the album is selected under browse albums. The covers are 300x300 and the thumbs are 100x100. I don't get it. [slim] Album art full screen
I use the web interface via browser on a linux rig running on a 49" 4k TV. Is there anyway to have the album art full screen for the now playing track? I can do this by manually by clicking the album art thumbnail and opening in a new tab. Whilst running the browser in kiosk / full screen mode. I hope there's a setting or plug in for this? Almost like a screen saver. Help please. [slim] Album Art Crashes SServer
Odd one this - been working fine for weeks on one of the nightly builds and now when I click gallery view, the first page loads fine and then any subsequent page dispplays a few covers then nothing and shuts down slimserver which has to be restarted. Bizarre or what. I am installing the latest build to try although having to uninstall in safe mode as 6.5 uninstall doesn't do a very thorough job. Have emailed tech support on this so will post if I get a fix. In the meantime if anyone can advise then please do. Recently moved to IE7 in the last week or so but as this affect Mozilla too that can't be the problem. [slim] Album Art Display Problem
In SC 7.2 (obtained and installed via .deb stable release) the artwork fails to display for some albums, but not all. In some directories, some of the albums display perfectly, while others do not. Instead of album art, only the placeholder artwork is displayed. The artwork is stored in a directory with the mp3 files using the following structure: /foo/artist/album - artists.jpg Under Settings > Advanced > Formatting I have set Artwork: %ALBUM - ARTIST . This has worked on previous installations, but fails to work this time. I have tried all of the following combinations in the Artwork field: %ALBUM - ARTIST %ALBUM - ARTIST.jpg %ALBUM - %ARTIST %ALBUM - %ARTIST.jpg None of the above combinations appear to work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. In all my album folders i have the cover art named *Front.jpg*. I know that Squeezecenter will look for other file names. Now i'm trying to add the front.jpg file name to the squeezecenter under the tab advanced -> formatting -> artwork. When entered here *front.jpg* or *%Filefront.jpg* it won't work, squeezecenter will not find the art. Renaming or copying all the front.jpg files will be the last do to because my other player needs the front.jpg files. Somebody an idea.. I don't know what the limitations exactly are, but coverart sized bigger than 500x500 pixel rarely showed up in the web interface or Squeezeplay for me. Resizing to a smaller size made them be displayed. Thanks for the reply. One of the files in question is 300x300 and is just over 20K in size. I have also tried re-encoding using an image editor, just to make sure it's not interleaved or is in some other way 'non-standard'. Could there be some filename case sensitivity ? Each time I copy the file back to the albums directory, I perform a re-scan with "Look for new and changed munic" selected. Should I be doing a full scan instead ? definitely make sure the files are called folder.jpg, not Folder.jpg. This has caused problems for people in the past. You'll find a list of filenames and types in the help section on squeezecentre. it details the filenames and types it looks for (and in what orer) within the directories your music is stored. I have a similar issue whereby the squeezebox remote (and the thumbnails in squeezecentre) display the wrong album art. For single tracks and even some albums without any album art - it's defaulting to the albumart for a righteous brothers cd!! I've searched my music collection for *.jpg *.jpeg *.gif but this artwork just isn't showing up (must be embedded). I've deleted the righteous brothers album from my music collecting (not sure what is was doing in there anyway) but it looks like the database is holding on it. Hi everyone, I tried to find an answer to my question on the last few pages of this forum but had no luck. Here is my problem: I manage all my music with iTunes and everything is ok regarding album covers. Managing them with iTunes 7.6 make them embedded, so I have no cover.jpg or ALBUM NAME.jpg files in my folders. Well, when I go to the web interface of the Squeeze Center, half of my covers don't show up. I tried to find where it came from, but can't find a clue. Of course, when I use the Controller of the Duet, the exact same albums don't have their cover displayed. I have a small, but nagging problem. I am using a duet and have installed 7.2. I have cover art in my directory with my music. I scan the dir so the music is in the library (nuked and rescanned) But when i play the music the album art is presentand showing. In the list there is no album art What am i doing wrong? [slim] Album Art acting weird!
Hi, not a huge problem but an annoyance I have SS set to display album art when I click on albums and everything displays correctly with the exception of one album. Even after doing a "clear library and rescan everything" the picture displayed is for another of my albums. In other words that picture is displayed twice - correctly against the album it relates to and incorrectly against the album in question. However, if I click on the album to move to the page where the individual tracks are listed then the correct art shows! I don't know if it's coincidence but the two alums in question are next to each other, alphabetically, in my PC's music folder. Hi everyone - A little while back I installed the screensaver that was announced a few years back by "cr-mattias" here - http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35267 It works great, but There was originally integration with slimserver to feature 'now playing' details, but that doesn't seem to work on my setup. I get the screen display of changing album art (which is great), but nothing about what is currently playing. I guess this may be because the author hasn't been able to keep the screensaver up to date. But posts are moderated before display, and the moderator doesn't seem to be at home :-( Has anyone been able to use the 'now playing' feature on current squeezebox server and windows PCs? Eg. every item expects an element ID where to render the data. Oddly, I've gotten the album artwork to display for *most* albums. I used %ALBUM - ARTIST.jpg Some of the albums refuse to display, however. The R.E.M. albums that I listed above are of particular annoyance right now. Any ideas why those, in particular, won't display? I don't know if it's the same on other OS'es, but there is something weird that happens when you have a directory with a trailing period. I've resolved the problem with SqueezeCenter displaying some, but not all album art. Currently it displays all available album art using the %ALBUM - ARTIST.jpg format. The R.E.M. directory is still having issues, however. Included below is the output from the directory. As far as I can tell, the file names and jpg names match perfectly. Have you tried Front.jpg ? It's strange cause all of my covers are treated by itunes and half od them do show up but the other half doesn't. I looked further about the size clue but it is not relevant. Some of the cover showing are bigger than 500x500. I really don't see any logic in this.
