Re: [slim] Audiophiles?

2007-11-15 Thread seanadams

The reason we moved the Audiophile forum lower down on the page was
because it had degenerated into a steady stream of useless comments
just like this:

iPhone;243054 Wrote:
> For anybody that needs these outlet plates, I have them at half price
> $15 each.

(I don't mean to pick on you iPhone - many users, myself included have
participated).

The audiophile forum remains open for discussion of power plate covers
and such, but please keep it clean.

Since our goal is to make these forums hospitable to everyone, this
thread is now closed. Feel free to resume it in Audiophiles.

Thanks,
Sean

For anybody that needs these outlet plates, I have them at half price
$15 each. Mine are almost impossible to over-tighten so no fear of
breaking like the $30 ones. Ours are made from industrial nylon, coated
with frequency control polymer that is cured under UV light, then excite
them with X band at 10 GHz for 12 hours after which we cryo them. Ours
are manufactured by Leviton exclusively for us, but some how Home Depot
is selling them for 57 cents! Again feel free to order them from us and
save $15.

All kidding aside, I will tell you the funniest thing about gone crazy
audiophiles. Are you ready? They spend multiple tens of thousands of
dollars on their systems, thousands of dollars on their cables and
interconnects, multiple hundreds of dollars on their power conditioners
and special power cords, then plug everything into an 87 cent contractor
spec outlet?!?!

Did you notice the description of the forum got changed also? It used
to say something along the lines of "Getting the best possible sound
from your system". Now it says "Know everything about Pear Cables v.s.
The Amazing Randi? This is your forum.". LOL! Somebody with a sense of
humor has given it a more accurate description :-).

Re: [slim] Audiophiles?

Haunyack, what are you trying to say? Is it like, "We don't need no
stinking badges!" but instead, "We don't need no sticking audiophile
opinions!"

But you do make a great point. What company wants a bunch of
audiophiles telling their buying public that they modified this and
that. Might make the new buyers wonder if they bought something bad
that needs redesigned by the owner before it is useable (which isn't
the case).

The Squeezebox 3 is great, personally I just like to tinker and
"Squeeze" a little more performance out of it at the same time. New
buyers, notice I said a little more performance. The SB3 is very good
and there are no huge gains to be had just from swapping parts
directly. Besides there is always the Transporter and SB+ if the SB3 is
not enough. Not to bad mouth Boulder, but I do not understand where they
fit in. For what their mods cost on the SB3, I could buy a TP or SB+ and
move the unmodified SB3 to the kitchen or bedroom. Anyway, just MHO.

I get the feeling that the "Audiophiles" forum has been moved down the
list just for all the contention that occurs within.
Probably has become an embarrassment.
We've been shown the door and pointed to the service entrance.

Cheers all you brawlers!

Re: [slim] Audiophiles?

2007-11-13 Thread iPhone

Change can be a good thing. Don't take it so hard. It could happen to
any of us {(well not really, just being PC) just kidding, I'm lucky if
I can find the keyboard}. Don't you just hate when you get so used to
using a company's website that you can just click the correct part of
the display without looking, then one day you end up someplace you have
never seen before! Damn webmaster went and updated the site. The company
probably likes that because you are seeing other things they want you to
see.

BTW, are we still Audiophiles if we can't find the Forum? And if an
Audiophile falls in the forest is it digital or analog?
