Frankly to say, you have many site to download music. For example, you
can 'download music from grooveshark'
pandora, napster, last fm, rhapsody etc. These are good streaming
websites, where you can find millions of popular songs.

Re: [slim] Best site to download music from in UK

2008-09-30 Thread sickmick

Thanks for all your feedback, some good sites there...meanwhile, I'd
downloaded a track from play.com in MP3 format and I thought SB3 would
pick up...it hasn't.

Is this format OK for SB3? I've done a rescan of my libray (clear
library and rescan everything), is there anything else I should be
doing to get SB3 to pick it up.

Cheers

2008-09-29 Thread Siduhe

Emusic is also good for electronic, rock and indie, but not so much
chart stuff.

Re TescoDownloads, you can burn these to CD and then rerip them to
legitimately get around the DRM restrictions on the WMA files. There
are programs which will semi-automate this process for you, however (at
least in the UK) they are very likely to be in technical breach of the
licencing restrictions placed on the files when you downloaded them.
Google Soundtaxi or similar for details.

Linn's catalogue may or may not be to your taste, but there is quite a
lot of music there available in FLAC.

Re: [slim] Best site to download music from in UK

2008-09-28 Thread sickmick

I've just read on a previous thread that Tesco downloads also can't be
picked up by SB3...this would explain why the tracks I've just
dwonloaded from Tesco also can't be found!!??!!

Sorry to ask the same question again but I've tried 2 sites in the UK
now, iTunes Tesco and neither work with SB3. Pleeeassee, does anyone
know a site which I can download tracks from in a suitable format?
Thanks

Re: [slim] Best site to download music from in UK

2008-09-28 Thread Cabe

http://www.tescodigital.com and
http://www.play.com/Music/MP3-Download/6-/DigitalHome.html both provide
non-DRM MP3 music for download. HMV also offer a download service, but I
cant find its DRM status anywhere although many blogs suggest they are
DRM free. They key point is MP3, if you download the WMA versions you
wont be able to use them with SqueezeCenter.

Another source of music that is completly free, but is however not
mainstream is http://www.jamendo.com/en/ OK so you'll find Oasis or
Madonna on there but you may well find unsigned bands that you would
never hear on the radio.

There'a a question for you, any recommendations for a site to download
music from in the UK? I've just been down the itunes route to discover
that SB3 can't play music downloaded from this store...any other ideas?
