A couple of questions since you brought my attention to this:

Does the controller count as it's own unit? For example, does it show

And is the playback a feature that Logitech has promised will work, or
 is it just YMMV?

Yep, the controller shows in SC and in SqueezeNetwork as a seperate
player. It even shows itself as a player on the SBC and you can change
all the settings just like any other device (screensaver, background,
etc...)

It was my understanding since the beginning that Logitech intended to
do this. Makes sense since they put the DAC and the jack in the
design.

It's a blast. I ran it yesterday for 2.5 hours and the battery still
showed half full.

Ah lazy Sundays. I hope they don't post 7.3 for download today :-D

You are way too ambitious. I'm drinking Black Tans and working on
portraits I shot yesterday while listening to my controller through
headphones. That's as close as I'm coming to work :-)

Sounds pretty good through a set of Sennheiser HD650's with no help at
all and it less mess. I'm going to look for some good ear buds to
lighten the load a little more. I know Logitech just bought a company
that makes some good ones. It's almost like carrying an iPod except it
needs a nice rubber case with a clip or something.
