There's also a Denon plug-in floating around here that I've used with

I'm not sure about the former, but you can certainly do the latter with
the SqueezeIR app. Search for it in the 3rd Party Software forum.

Thanks for the answer, I was thinking about using this OyremoteCL:

Which is a command line program to send commands through the network to
an Onkyo receiver (many models supported, in case anyone is interested).
If I install the software on my server, maybe the Controller could
trigger it somehow. But maybe it's easier through the infrared plugin.
I'll check it out.
