[slim] Difference model SB USA and Model Europe?

2007-07-14 Thread Pandora's Box

A small question from the Netherlands.

I want to buy a Squeezebox (SB) from the USA but the powercord that
comes with it is 100-120V. SB is probably also 110-120V. USA has a
powersupply for 100-120V.

In Europe (The Netherlands) it is 230V. The SB that are shipt from the
USA to europe do they have with it a 230 V cord? Or has this been done
in europe??? Is it then a cord like you got with a laptop or printer
(black small box in the cable)?

Does anybody know this. Is it difficult for me to get such a cord?
Maybe you know where to find one.

The power supply is a single piece, a small wall wart with the regional
plug style and a cable with the DC end.
If you are purchasing directly from Slim Devices then you can specify
which plug you need.

You can also just get power supplies direct from the Slim Devices web
site:

If you are in Europe and order from Slim directly, you get a Europe
powercord.

Buried at the bottom of the buy_now page, you'll see: Orders include
the appropriate power adaptor for the destination country. If you'd
like to substitute a different power supply, or have another message
for our sales team, please make a note here.

You can put a note there just to be sure, but it should be automatic.

Maybe... perhaps the nasty new USA net-radio fees that are on hold for
the moment will encourage Pandora and others to skip SoundExchange's
licensing and negotiate deals directly with labels.

(Last.fm was forced to do this since the UK didn't have compulsory
license fees, which has now turned out to be a good thing for them.
Since Pandora is a music recommendation service as well, I would hope
Sony and Warner and the indies that license music to Last.fm would be
willing to provide a similar license to Pandora.)

The only difference is the wall wart. You can easily find a compatible
wall wart anywhere; just match the pin size and polarity, the output
voltage, and the minimum amperage.
