If it doesn't plug and play you select the audio output device in Control Panel>Sounds and Multimedia>Audio. While you are there (and if you're concerned about audio quality) you should click on the advanced tab and set sample rate conversion to 'Best', especially if you use the Windows volume control. There is also a Sounds tab where you can specify No Sounds as the Sound Scheme, to keep unwanted system sounds from playing over the stereo. After it's set up you'll need to install softsqueeze, which will find your Slimserver on the network and play via USB. http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?SoftSqueeze -- Skunk http://www.last.fm/user/TheSkunk/ Skunk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2685 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42874 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Digital audio out via USB
It's a Kingrex T20U (T Class) - it has a USB input DAC to accept streamed digital audio. I also use the analogue output from my kitchen SB3 into a Trends Audio T class amp. Wanted to run the Kingrex in the study out of my PC via Slimserver. Looks like I can try plug and play - there is no driver disk involved. I'll give it a try. Normally for such a DAC you would just plug it in and the PC should automatically recognize it as a sound card-like device. If not, contact the manufacturer for help. -- seanadams seanadams's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42874 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Digital audio out via USB
It will depend upon what the USB port on the amp is there for. If it is there to plug a memory stick in then it is intended to read files so you won't be able to take a stream since it will expect to see a particular disk structure and file operating system. On the other hand if it is intended to take an audio stream then it will either come with a driver disk or it will be able to use drivers already included in PC operating system. Assuming it didn't come with a driver disk then just plugging it in will enable the functionality then it is just a matter of choosing the right output device in control panel. -- Zaragon Zaragon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14577 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42874 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Digital audio out via USB
Easy. Just do this: USB-->USB Network Adapter-->Squeezebox-->DAC/Amp Probably not what you had in mind, but this *is* the Slimdevices forum... -- jsprag jsprag's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14437 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42874 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Digital audio out via USB
What type of DAC/Amp is it, some recent ones have USB and this can be used to plug a memory stick or drive into, others can take an ipod or similar, I've not heard of them taking a stream via usb, but could be mistaken -- nacmacfeegle Crusty old Dell>Netgear router>homplug> Kitchen --- SB3>AEgo M Conservatory --- SB3>Musical Fidelity Tempest>Canon S50 More Audiofool than Audiophile! nacmacfeegle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4889 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42874 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

No, my DAC / amp has a USB input. I just want to know how I configure the PC to get digital audio out from the USB socket. Re: [slim] Digital audio out via USB
You mean you have to go from USB to RCA Coax? There are a number of devices that will do that, including the Hagerman HagUSB: http://www.hagtech.com/hagusb.html They also do a USB to AES/EBU version. I don't know about Mac, but the HagUSB will set up automatically in XP. You really don't have to do much of anything. -- riffer riffer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13459 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42874 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
