We've sent off the permanent fix to SRS, so hopefully you can contact them sometime next week and they'll have a new build of iWOW for you to use. Re: [slim] Is AAC support broken after OSX 10.4.9 upgrade?
Joe, I think you're onto something. I am using iWow. Removing it seems to have solved the problem. My router is acting up so I can't test it through the SqueezeBox but playing the AAC tunes through softqueeze produces zero static. Good work! I had iWow installed before the 10.4.9 update and had no problem. Something changed in this OS update that caused iWow, SlimServer software and Mac OSX 10.4.9 to not work together. Can the conflict be traced and fixed? Who will do this... Apple, Logitech, SRS? This is interesting. The version of iWow i had installed was the latest at 1.1.7. Joe, is this the version you had installed? I found an ealier version, 1.1.3, in one of my archives and installed it. Guess what? No static with AAC files. I don't have the versions of iWow between 1.1.3 and 1.1.7 to find out which one introduces the bug. Does anyone have 1.1.4 through to 1.1.6 for us to try? I'll contact SRS and see if they're aware of this issue. -- LewisT LewisT's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10065 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33654 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Is AAC support broken after OSX 10.4.9 upgrade?
Found an odd updater to iWow. It says it's 1.1.8 but a Get Info on the file has it listed as 1.1.7. It has the same file size and Modified Date as 1.1.7 and still produces static. Did they screw up? iWow version history below. Anyone know what iTea is? 1.1.8 - corrects some iWOW menu insertion problems in iTunes - incorrect reference to saving presets in help removed - includes support for manual registration 1.1.7 (beta) - intermediate, non-public release. 1.1.6 - integrates new iTea binary to improve menu insertion and report new codes when it fails 1.1.5 - integrates new iTea binary 2.0.1 - resolves conflict issues with other iTea plug-ins and JackOSX - auto-updates enabled by default - error dialogs presented when iWOW fails to initialize 1.1.3 - TruBass speaker sizes adjusted for 'laptop' and 'speaker' settings - visualization window adjustment - fixes intermittent crash during long periods of playback with visualization open - allows playback when iWOW window is closed 1.1.1 - more descriptive error information when authorization fails - help file comes up -- LewisT LewisT's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10065 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33654 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Is AAC support broken after OSX 10.4.9 upgrade?
aac static problem with Mac 10.4.9 solved I have finally solved the problem with hearing only static when playing aac files. The culprit was an itunes plugin call iWOW from SRSlabs. It works great as an iTunes audio enhancer but kills the aac playback with the slimserver. Simply removing it from the \library\audio\plug-Ins folder on the mac completely fixes the problem. LewisT, are you using iWow. If not it may be another audio plugin. Please try it and see if it works for you.
