Lewis -

iTea is part of iWOW that enables it to work inside of iTunes. We
(Rogue Amoeba) provide it to SRS, and they provide the rest of the
plugin (the user interface, audio processing, etc).

Today we looked into this bug, and we believe we have found both the
cause and a solution for it. Thankfully SlimDevices had provided us
with SqueezeBoxes in the past, so it was easy for us to track down.

The short of it is, debugging versions of iWOW (or any iTea-powered
product) would corrupt the output of mov123, causing invalid audio to
be sent on the SqueezeBox.

We've sent off the permanent fix to SRS, so hopefully you can contact
them sometime next week and they'll have a new build of iWOW for you to
use. A temporary fix also exists, by setting the iTeaDebugging flag in
the Info.plist file to false.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Quentin. Thanks for the detailed reply and your tip on how to get
all components working together again. I set the iTeaDebugging flag to
false and all is good again. And thanks to Joe Barrett for locating the
source of the problem.

Re: [slim] Is AAC support broken after OSX 10.4.9 upgrade?

2007-06-27 Thread LewisT

Joe, I think you're onto something. I am using iWow. Removing it seems
to have solved the problem. My router is acting up so I can't test it
through the SqueezeBox but playing the AAC tunes through softqueeze
produces zero static. Good work!

I had iWow installed before the 10.4.9 update and had no problem.
Something changed in this OS update that caused iWow, SlimServer
software and Mac OSX 10.4.9 to not work together. Can the conflict be
traced and fixed? Who will do this... Apple, Logitech, SRS?

Nice work Joe.

Re: [slim] Is AAC support broken after OSX 10.4.9 upgrade?

2007-06-27 Thread LewisT

This is interesting. The version of iWow i had installed was the latest
at 1.1.7. Joe, is this the version you had installed? I found an ealier
version, 1.1.3, in one of my archives and installed it. Guess what? No
static with AAC files. I don't have the versions of iWow between 1.1.3
and 1.1.7 to find out which one introduces the bug. Does anyone have
1.1.4 through to 1.1.6 for us to try?

I'll contact SRS and see if they're aware of this issue.

Re: [slim] Is AAC support broken after OSX 10.4.9 upgrade?

2007-06-27 Thread LewisT

Found an odd updater to iWow. It says it's 1.1.8 but a Get Info on the
file has it listed as 1.1.7. It has the same file size and Modified
Date as 1.1.7 and still produces static. Did they screw up? iWow
version history below. Anyone know what iTea is?

1.1.8

- corrects some iWOW menu insertion problems in iTunes
- incorrect reference to saving presets in help removed
- includes support for manual registration

1.1.7 (beta)

- intermediate, non-public release.

1.1.6

- integrates new iTea binary to improve menu insertion
and report new codes when it fails

1.1.5

- integrates new iTea binary 2.0.1
- resolves conflict issues with other iTea plug-ins and JackOSX
- auto-updates enabled by default
- error dialogs presented when iWOW fails to initialize

1.1.3

- TruBass speaker sizes adjusted for 'laptop' and 'speaker' settings
- visualization window adjustment
- fixes intermittent crash during long periods of playback with
visualization open
- allows playback when iWOW window is closed

1.1.1

- more descriptive error information when authorization fails
- help file comes up

aac static problem with Mac 10.4.9 solved

I have finally solved the problem with hearing only static when playing
aac files.

The culprit was an itunes plugin call iWOW from SRSlabs. It works great
as an iTunes audio enhancer but kills the aac playback with the
slimserver. Simply removing it from the \library\audio\plug-Ins folder
on the mac completely fixes the problem.

LewisT, are you using iWow. If not it may be another audio plugin.
Please try it and see if it works for you.

Hello,
All of my AAC files no longer play. I just get static.
This happens with whatever version of slimserver I have tried.

I have tried changing the convert.conf file to comment out the mov
setting to allow AAC to MP3 Lame conversion but that has no effect.

I noticed this when I tried to play a new Apple DRM free AAC but then I
found all of my AAC will not play. MP3s are fine!

I am using Mac 10.4.9 and 6.5.1 slimserver.

It happens on both my SB3 and my old SB2 boxes.
