Re: [slim] Is there an EASY way to get a classic up and running without a remote?
The Harmony remote, the cheapest one, fixed my problems. Thanks for the info. 2 squeezebox 2 now up and running! toobiloo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4337 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95249 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

If you have a universal remote, the Squeezebox uses JVC DVD remote codes. I don't know the equivalent of the brightness key, which is used for some alternate functions, but the basic transport and 10 key/t9 functions are somewhat intuitive. musicom's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30459 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95249 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

If you're less computer savvy, there is always the option of getting a Logitech Harmony remote. This remote has the Squeezebox remotes in its database. And it is a great universal remote too. The Harmony Remote may be the way to go, for $30, I will gamble a reset will solve my connection troubles. The remote from a Squeezebox Touch will also work fine . With one exception there is no brigthness button . This may only be a real problem if it's firmware is very very old ( been in it's box for several years ). Way back you where required to press the brigthness button to accept an firmware update Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95249 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Is there an EASY way to get a classic up and running without a remote?
Niether the server software nor my android phone can find my new (remoteless) Squeezebox classic. It is plugged into my my wireless router via an ethernet cable, but I 'm getting Your player was not found... I've disabled Windows 7 firewall and rebooted everything several times but no dice. The solution involving the Perl download and the other thing is beyond me, but I'm pretty good with computers and networking. A remote is on the way, but I want to play today. I think the only way you can set the Classic up is with the remote. If you're lucky and it's configured for DHCP you might be able to get it to acquire an IP address, but even then I think you'd need the remote to tell it what server to use. I'm really close using these commands from AVF Forum: Quote:== Here though is a quick 2 min guide for windows users who have DHCP and the receiver will be wired 1. download and run Windows Config Tool: http://slim2lirc.myown.mailcan.com/udap_shell_1_0_0.exe 2. Type the following at the prompts: discover conf 1 set interface=1 lan_ip_mode=1 squeezecenter_address=a.b.c.d save_data reset (a.b.c.d is the ip address of your squeezecenter) = I substituted squeezeboxserver for sqqueezecenter and it seemed to work. The classic displays connecting to server for a minute and then just shuts off. audiomagnate's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56256 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95249 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I am having a similar problem, I have a (2) sb2 and no remotes. Is there a way to reset the SB2 with no remote? I am on OSX. Or alternatively, where can I get a remote? I can not get either to SB2 to hook up to the server. toobiloo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4337 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95249 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
