No. The incompatibility is from the DRM, which is a core part of the

It might be a good idea if SlimServer gave an actual option for more
than one music folder, but it doesn't.

What one can do is specify a music folder and inside that folder put
a symbolic link to another folder. Note that this must be a symbolic
link and not an alias. You can create such a link with the terminal.
If you don't like using Terminal, search for "symbolic link" on
VersionTracker and you will find one or two programs for doing it;
there's at least one free program that just does this, and one
shareware multi-function program including this option.

When I select the use iTunes preference does it mean that
Slimserver uses iTunes exclusively?

I suspect so, but I don't use iTuines myself, so I am not sure.

The importer has this code already. Someone willing, could simply strip out the
unwanted tracks section and post a 'iTunes-playlist' plugin. All users would
have to do is enable this one instead of the standard that is included with
slimserver.

Craig,

There is a very useful looking articale at http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2004/11/03/itunes.html?page=2 which
describes how produce .M3U files from the iTunes XML.  Looks like most of
the work has already been done!

Someone should raise an enhancement

Otherwise one could write some sort of parser that isolates

this?

Does anyone know if is possible to partialy integrate with
iTunes just enough to get the playlists?  I have
not allowed iTunes to "import" all of the music, just index a file share, but it
would be nice to make use of playlists built on the iPod.  An alternative
would be to push the SlimServer playlists that I have created into
iTunes.
