I have no experience of this particular problem (until I read this, I didn't know that the SB3 front plates were stuck on), but for a similar problem involving trying to separate something fragile, which was held on with double-sided sticky, from something else fragile, I used this approach: Whilst gently prising the two stuck items apart, using a tool which will not scratch or gouge edges (e.g. a plastic spatula sort of thing), drip some surgical spirit (that's exactly what I used) in between, to dissolve the glue (as it did in my case; the glue goes 'gungy'). Keep gently working the items apart, whilst dripping more spirit in between. It might be useful to have someone assisting. If it can be removed, you could wrap it with a 3M 1080 series vinyl. A sample piece would probably be enough. As you may know, it's only a skinny face plate that is glued on.
