Without them classical music support wouldn't be so great.) so I will make sure I get all of those settings as well. jziegler's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=51246 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101007 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

If you use Custom Browse, Multi Library, Database Query or SQL Playlist plugins, these have configuration outside the preference folder, you will find the directory where it's stored in each plugin settings page. If you are using TrackStat, remember to have a TrackStat backup and remember that the path to the music files needs to be exactly the same for the restore to work. Re: [slim] Moving LMS preference/cache to new computer
I'll probably be doing this sometime in the next week or 2, but I'm not concerned about rescanning, only keeping as many settings/preferences as I possibly can. I have custom clock configurations and the like that I'd prefer to not recreate. If I only want to preserve the setings, what should I be looking to copy over? This will likely be a Windows XP to Windows 8.1 change, if that matters for where any files are located. Re: [slim] Moving LMS preference/cache to new computer
The process was not very smooth but it could have been worse. My server is also my internet radio station so the transition needed to be nearly seamless unless I want to drop all of my listeners. So I needed to set up LMS with a RAM disk and fixed IP and a shoutcast server with a suitable playlist. Copying the cache from the ram disk of old computer to new computer preserved some things but I still needed to rescan completely...twice for some reason unknown, and I had to recreate a lot of preferences and settings including all my favorites. The new Haswell computer scanned more quickly but I found overall it's performance to be subpar to the i5 laptop that I was replacing. So I put the old unit back in service and attempted to clone the hard drive to a SSD and install that inside the new laptop; of course, it was not having that and refused to boot, necessitating replacement of the old HD. I checked online to see what success others have had and found a rather laborious way of getting the SSD to boot which I will save for my project for next weekend. For now, I'm good with a stable functioning system. http://zzzone.net http://have-a-nice-day.org http://www.last.fm/user/zzzoneDOTnet http://somethingsomethingsomething.net dBpoweramp Cisco E4200 SBS 7.8 - i7 laptop - Win 7 64bit 3 Booms, 2 Radio, 1 Touch, 1 iPod Touch w/digital dock 2 controllers, various tablets/phones Various apps including iPeng, Logitech Android, etc. 'Library' (http://zzzone.net/photo/2009/music1.jpg): 231,000+ FLAC/MP3 files - 12 TB HD Onkyo TX-NR818, KEF Q300/Q200/iQ30, Outlaw LFM-1 Plus jimzak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17592 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101007 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I believe everything is held here (Windows 7) make sure the file paths are the same to your music, plus watch out for IP and computer name; You should remove the server's uuid in the server.prefs file, or players might get confused if you happen to start both LMS at the same time. -- Michael ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Moving LMS preference/cache to new computer
I'm upgrading my LMS server computer to one with a slightly faster i7 processor but will still be Windows-based. What files do I need to copy from the old server computer to the new one so that I don't have to recreate all the preferences and plugins? Also can I just copy over the cache from the old computer to the new one and avoid having to do a complete 3 hour rescan of music? I tried searching for this topic in the forum but could't find a good match. Thanks.
