[slim] Odd power loss.

2009-03-26 Thread Gibbo

Hi,

wondering if anyone has a similar problem to me.

I have my SB3 setup next to my av receiver, the phono cable between the
2 is just about the right length which means whenever I move the
receiver (obviously not very often) the SB3 moves slightly as well,
when moving my stuff around the other day and hence getting to the
wires at the back of the receiver I noticed that when the SB is moved
all power is lost to it. the screen goes blank, I then have to kind of
wiggle it around until it starts back up again? must be a loose
connection somewhere. Is this a 'known' fault?

I have the same problem wth my SB2. The coax power jacks tend to get
sloppy with use. Try wiggling the connector and see if the power goes
out.

To stop it happening you can try taping or somehow securing the DC
cable to the back of the unit leaving a loop of cable between the
connector and the tie point.

I had the exact same thing happening. It felt like the power cord on my
SB3 was plugged in nice and tight but if I moved it at all it would lose
connection and power off. I called support and they sent a new power
supply to me which has solved the problem. They were very good about
it and sent it to me without having to send mine back first so that I
was never without use of my SB3. I don't think taping it would help as
it's in connecter. I'd give them a call.
