Yes, I did hear that but wanted to check that was what was going on. It
added a nice touch to the recording. I think I'll add those mp3s to my
collection - they'll be a good suprise when I play everything at

Sure, hearing it would be a hoot.
I'd also be interested in the frequency response of the
playback. I bet it is pretty seriously down at both ends
of the 20-20k spectrum. maybe 50 to 4k?

Ok I'll do a spectral analysis on it before I convert it to mp3 cos
that's just gonna destroy the response ;-)

It won't be till Friday night though.

Amazing how fast things can change in so little time.

I would say that the microphone that you use to record the sample will
have a -far- greater impact on the frequency response than converting
it to mp3 (especially if you use Lame as your compressor with a
standard setting)...

but I'd definitely still like to listen!

No but sometimes you need to wind it up again partway through a track.
Maybe I'll get KDF to do a rewind plugin for it :-)

I see you have a gig tomorrow night...
Would be impressed to see you playing the trumpet and performing
backing vocals at the same time though.. :)

I've just shown this to my wife. It seems that the gramophone styling
has a much higher Wife Appreciation Factor. Maybe this should be an
alternative case? The display would go quite nicely in the place of
the brass plaque on the front.

Max

PS Don't do this to an original gramophone whatever you do!
