[slim] Re: CD autoloader - automated ripping...?

2005-11-27 Thread audiofi

I have developed a server which runs 'headless' and is setup to autorip
CD's (only one at a time sadly) without the need for any user input.

I'm selling off some excess stock at the moment at cost price, if you
are interested, just let me know.

I'm guessing you would be ripping onto another PC on the network so
that would save me having to buy a large hard disk and also bring the
price down for you.

How does this compare to an average PC, with a throw-away flakey
monitor and pubic hair infested keyboard yet running Exact Audio Copy
for EXACT copies?

Its fairly similar, but I had to write a few programs to stop it needing
any user input on pop-up windows etc. and also a program to reload any
programs should they crash.
Plus I am selling them at cost price which without the 200Gb storage
disk would be £30 with one CD-ROM (plus postage).

I'm going to try a second CD-ROM in one in just a minute (had to find
an IDE cable).

2005-11-27 Thread netim3

It might be just as cheap to pay somebody to rip your CDs for you. I
used a service that ripped to both FLAC MP3, and returned them on
DVDs - so I simply had to copy the files of the DVDs onto my storage
device. I could also have shipped them my storage device if I'd wanted
to. They did a great job with tagging, artwork, file naming etc, and
used EAC for ripping. They also collected delivered to London. Email
me if you want their info - cost was about 1 pound a CD.

Or try 'Audiograbber' - it's free and can run automated if you just sit
and feed it cd's.
