[slim] Re: Nokia 770 Questions

I thought the 770 skin was in 6.5 only, in which case you're just using
the regular (non-ajax, non-770 specific) skins. Try Handheld, Touch or
even ExBrowse or Fishbone.

[slim] Re: Nokia 770 Questions

2006-03-28 Thread bklaas

Yes, the optimized Nokia770 skin is 6.5 only. IMO, you won't be very
satisfied with using the 770 until you move to 6.5, particularly
because of the issues you are reporting. If I was in 6.2, I'd probably
be using handheld as my skin of choice on the 770.

Ajax is currently limited to the 'now playing' page, but I just started
looking at playlist.html, which is going to be much harder to code but
benefits will be large there.

cheers,

well, for starters, I wouldn't use the init.d starup yet. Still need
to see what's going on.

cd /usr/local/slimserver
rm Cache/slimserversql.db
./slimserver.pl --d_info --d_server --d_sql

and also, make sure that all of this stuff you've done as 'root' isn't
leaving the permissions in a state that wont' work for the 'slimserver'
user. You might have to use:

chown -R slimserver:slimserver *

-k

2006-04-12 Thread neilcoburn

I had a similar problem, which unfortunately was the start of a
completely faulty screen - the display went completely white,
permanently. I hope this doesn't happen to you, especially as getting
it collected for repair took about 25 different phone calls to
different parts of Nokia - the service was abysmal. I bought it from
Nokia Online shop - hopefully you won't have as much trouble if you do
need to return it.

Can't confirm this. Mine seems to be evenly lit. A faulty display
maybe?

The Nokia 770 actually has a far better resolution (800x480) than the
PSP (480x272). What you see is probably due to refraction in the
additional touchscreen layer on the screen. Touchscreens therefore have
a slight loss in brightness and viewing angle. The screen does not look
as crisp as a similar regular screen.

This is normal. The wireless module draws a lot of power. The Nokia
disconnects automatically from the network if the connection is not
used to save battery power.

Thank you so very much guys

it seems that most of the people have reported the backlight problem
with the screen... so I guess I will keep mine. It is an incredible
gadget anyway :)

I have 21 days to return it to compUSA so I will use it as much as I
can and see if it needs repair or not...

:)

Looking forward to my SB3 now...

I have no such backlight problems. You paid a fair bit of coin for that
toy...I'd recommend returning it for a replacement. CompUSA should give
you a new one on the spot.

I don't know how widespread the problem is, but mine is fine (apart from
the crack between USB and headpone sockets, but I think that's fairly
universal ...)

I just picked up a 770 today nd not experiencing any the problems you've
listed.

Nice device, it is slow and definitely needs more memory. Example is I
tried to load Pandora player via their website with no other 770 Apps
open and Pandora fails to fully load.

Anyone know of a good chat client for the 770? Tried GAIM, but seems a
bit awkward.

given that it still isn't working, looks like I've not been much help
either. However, at least we now know that the right database file is
being used, and that it is something wrong in the creation of the db.
The error is coming from the check for the database version number.
To me, it looks like something is just plain wrong with the setup of
SQLite or DBI::SQLite on yoru setup. Unfortunately, I'm no expert at
either of these.

At this point, I'd suggest filing a new bug report so that the
important bits are recorded. Include that bit of log you pasted in
the last post, as well as the os, and the output of 'perl -V'. I
think that should be enough to get someone started on further
debugging. I suppose in Dan gets a chance to look at it, he'll likely
recognise exactly what is causing this sort of thing to happen.

cheers,
