I would like to know the answer to this as well please. Done a search and this is exactly what i need but there was no response. I have been unable to get this to work as of yet. sbooth, this post has been sort of continued somewhere else in the forum. Essentially it is not currently possible for qnap to see a shortcut to a folder on an outside machine on the same network.
