Ok the wait is nearly over! Our first shipment of TS-101's is currently held in a depot at Heathrow and will be delivered to us tomorrow morning (Monday). We intend to have all back orders (end users and resellers) fulfilled on Tuesday. We will have a small amount of stock left and we will be getting our next order the week after. AlienBBC will come pre-installed on the box but does have an impact on the performance of the box. I personally have had two different streams and MP3's playing from the TS-101 at the same time and the user experience is still good. I can only apologise for the delay in getting these boxes to market but it has been out of our hands. I hope those of you who have one on order enjoy your purchase when you receive it and give it favourable reviews. If you guys want to know anything else please either post on here or PM me. Best regards Paul Progressive Consumer Electronics Ltd P.S. Details of the TS-401T will be posted shortly. It should be available to buy from next week - I have learn't my lesson this time ;) -- ultra238a ultra238a's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=626 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=20990 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Good to hear, i look forward to hearing some user reviews of it :) This isn't exactly a feature request, more just an idea for thought. I saw on the MultiTask Computing they have a DAB reciever that is compatible with DAB bar. Is DAB Bar open source? can it be ported to the Linux that runs on the TS-101/401? Just food for thought. I'd expect the streaming of DAB would be a lot less processor intesive than AlienBBC :) -- funkstar funkstar's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2335 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=20990 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Thanks. I think that Progressive are the importers, so they will bring in the shipment and then send stock on to distributors like Advanced. If so, (and I've heard nothing to the contrary), I'm hoping those of us who ordered from Cooltopia/Progressive will still receive our orders this week as per the latest promise. I've been disappointed before though. Hi guys, TS-101. There have been some on eBay. Qnap could have shipped us a small amount of product before the Chinese New Year but it wouldn't have been nearly enough for us to cover the back orders so we decided to wait till after the holiday. They are due into us this week/early next week so they should be shipping soon. TS-401T. Development work has now finished and we will be ready to ship this early March. I will post details on prices etc as soon as I have them. Paul from progressive updates one of the old threads a while back http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=20393highlight=Qnap The product is ready in Taiwan, but the Chinese NEw Year holidays got in the way. They will be shipped to Progressive/Cooltopia on the 15th (Wednesday). So i would be expecting them in the UK from the start of the following week (assuming customs don't get a bee in their bonnets). I got fed up of waiting so have brought a small pc case, 250gb hard drive, XP Pro, 512mb, 1.8ghz processor, no cd drive. Doing things this way I'll have no issues waiting for Slimserver upgrades or installing any plug-ins. I have it plugged into the router in the spare room and then wireless to SB3 in the lounge. I have another pc on the network again with 250gb which I use to back-up my music. CD's are imported on this then transferred over the network. I don't normally leave the (server) on 24/7 as it boots up in under 20 secs via the remote. The only issues are getting it to turn off when not in use, not such a hardship though. Best thing is I've procured a Toshiba Tablet laptop that I use to control everything remotely, works like a dream using the pen/stylus on screen. I can also download tunes, edit, then transfer them to the other pc's all from the couch. I was thinking of the Nokia 770 or a PDA but the limitations of both put me off, my solution although bigger was the way to go, even the girlfriend is impressed. Yeah Infrant do but I still reckon you'd have to wait for them to configure the new Slimserver upgrade and then put in online. I don't know how plug-ins work with them. As for Qnap, again i'm aware that Slim will be supported but how quickly updates will be made available is unknown as is plug-in capability. Rob -- Robster Rob So much music, so little time.. [slim] Re: Qnap Ts101
ReadyNAS: Releases are pretty quick from Infrant. They have to compile their own version for the ReadyNAS so you can't add your own plugins etc. but requests for them are often quickly added if you read the forums there. Transcoding is not possible due to the processor inside the ReadyNAS being tailored specifically for RAID/NAS IO and is not a general purpose CPU. Qnap: ultra238a Wrote: The way the script works is when there is a new release of the software there will be a Qnap version also. You drop this in the update directory that will be on the HDD and reboot the machine. An internal script will then pick up the file on reboot and install the new version of the software. I don't know how plugins will work or what will be available for it. No idea what transcoding will be like. There was also a lot of talk about the Qnap TS-401 a few months back, but there hasn't been much else about this, unlike the TS-101. Apparently the 401 will be Epia based so can run a full, standard Perl version of SS along with any plugins you care to add. Hopefully Paul from Progressive will see this thread on monday and chip in anything else :) -- funkstar funkstar's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2335 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=20990 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
