Thanks for the tip Siduhe!

I do use both of these, not necessary to manage my library, but in
parallel... I did change the reload settings as you suggested and have
then restarted twice without Slimserver starting to scan! Looks very
promising so far!! Thanks again

Are you using Itunes or MusicMagic (MusicIP) to manage your music
library ?

If so, try setting the reload interval to 0.

Hi!

I restarted my computer again and as us usal lately Slimserver
immediately started scanning. Tried to look at some of the artists and
albums, but the ones I did look at seemed OK from the start, so doesn't
seem the library is first emptied out. Grateful for any help in
stopping/controling this behaviour.

Thanks for the reply! Not sure if it is causing the things you mention
since I usually just wait until it is ready. But will check next time.
I run:

slimserver 6.5.0 - 9916 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252
Perl Version: 5.8.7 MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt

and is using WinXP

No, SlimServer should not be doing this.  What's your operating
system?

Does it also empty out your library when it starts one of these scans? 
That is, when you see this happening and then try to browse albums or
artists do you see blank or partial pages?
