Unfortunately, it still craps out on the third song of albums. I can
restart the stopped song by clicking the Play button, but the interface
is very sluggish -- the spectrum analyzer updates about twice a second.

[slim] Re: Softsqueeze 2.5

2006-07-15 Thread jonheal

I'm running the Windows version of Softsqueeze (2.7). I had a persistent
problem of it stopping playing somewhere around the third song of any
given album. When I checked Task Manager it would report 90% or greater
CPU utilization attributed to Softsqueeze.

I seem to have fuxed the problem by simply increasing the audio buffer
size from 128000 to 512000. Sotsqueeze hasn't stopped playing on me for
several albums now, and CPU utilization is on average less than 5%.

Does this sound like normal behavior?

2006-07-11 Thread oreillymj

This border on the Windows version started at 2.5 iirc.
There were Mac related border changes made which also affected
Windows.
Not just on the excession skin, but also the default skin.

There is also a noticable paused at the midway point of a horizontal
scroll and a glitch.

It seems that during a horizontal scroll, a function call is made that
results in a small "diamond" appearing on the screen before the
scrolling continues.

Yes, I managed to recreate the problem on Ubuntu running on vmware. I
still don't understand why it works differently for you on XP.

It is imho the same issue on all platforms I tested.

I will be
making a new binary later today, just looking at some other problems
first.

Great, thanks!

So here's the screenshot from SlimCD. The border problem is
the same on Windows (or even worse: it's a lighter grey than on Linux).

I still cannot recreate this one.

Shouldn't be that hard: download those 100MB from
http://www.herger.net/SlimCD and run it on your PC (or in VMWare) :-)

Can you double check the version of
Softsqueeze that's running. What version of Java are you using (mines
1.5.0_06)? Have you tweaked the settings on your Windows desktop at all?

On Windows it's Java 1.5.0_05. Tweaks? Can't think of it (except moving it
around and server connection). I'll try to get rid of those settings.

SlimCD is on 8278 & 8370, Java 1.5.0-b64 (whatever this is...), today's
(07-11) build. There shoulnd't be any settings preset.

...and just to be sure: freshly installed Suse 10.1, Java 1.5.0_07,
yesterday's 6.3.1 build - same problem.

Very minor but Softsqueeze 2.7 with excession-thin on Windows XP with
Sun Java Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_06-b05) has the LCD screen a few
pixels too low and to the right. Softsqueeze 2.3 doesn't suffer from
