[slim] Re: Upgrade to 6.5, now "unknown file format" on all songs
Thanks, I'll give that a try. I'm a little skeptical, though; I'm running an old version of iTunes (and that has not changed). So there's no change to the files; the only change was upgrading SlimServer. -- cafewalter cafewalter's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8359 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29434 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

I suspect it might be related to this -> http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29338 . In which case just load the latest 6.5.1 nightly and all will be fixed. -- Wirrunna Wirrunna's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3225 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29434 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Upgrade to 6.5 problems
I agree with the poster above. I'm running on Gentoo and also had to put in a considerable amount of effort (about 3 hours) to get 6.5 up and running (BTW, I'm been using Slimserver for a couple of years, so I'm used to doing a full blown upgrade). It took a whole bunch of configuring to get MySql ready to accept connections from SS, however, the notations on the Wiki were extremely helpful. TIP: If you're upgrading on Linux and your /etc/init.d/slimserver start command isn't starting up slimserver, go into your local slimserver install directory and run the main slimserver script manually, via a ./slimserver.pl. By doing that, it'll tell you what it doesn't like and you can go ahead and fix it. Now that it's up and running, I'm very pleased with the improvements. Seems to be running much more efficiently on the server and web interface response is very nice. There are only two things wrong that I"ve noticed thus far: 1. A few albums are not being flagged with the MM for integration with MusicMagic (MusicIP) -- they are quite clearly shown as mixable on the MusicIP interface, though. 2. The mouse cursor disappears when positioned over the Softsqueeze interface -- makes it difficult to push the Softsqueeze buttons. *Bradley -- Bradley Bradley's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=46 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27707 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Also note that some plugins have been substantially re-written for 6.5 (e.g., LastFM and SlimScrobbler). If that applies to any of your plugins, you'll need to download and install the new versions. And make sure you backup your slimserver preferences file just in case. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=26875 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Thanks, Paul" Paul, I would uninstall all first the install 6.5...Just rememeber to add the plugins again later. -- NY2006 NY2006's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6963 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=26875 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Upgrade to 6.5
I would do a clean install. In my case anyway...upgrading from 6.3 to 6.5 resulted in some "old" stuff being left behind that caused conflict. (i.e bizarre display issues with random mix) You could try to upgrade over the top of your current install and "see" what happens :) If all works fine.great. If not, THEN you can do a clean install. Of course you will want to back up your files. -- brucegrr brucegrr's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3964 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=26875 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
