I guess I'm just waiting for a download service that will allow me to grab CD quality (or hopefully better) sound and use it on my Squeezebox, Macs, and iPods. Agreed that you could do the burn and re-rip, but the quality would suffer. Personally, I'm not going below lossless these days anyway. Apple's lossless works great and usually runs around 800kbps. But my son gets itunes gift certificates and sometimes buys from them, so it would be nice to be able to stream that as well. Why would Apple do this for Slim/Logitech? I bet iTunes tracks play really well on AppleTV, why would they allow the Squeezebox to compete with them? You're encoding it twice with the resulting additional degradation of the sound. Analogy: record a CD to cassette, then record the cassette onto another cassette. The same principle applies.
