Re: [slim] Re: internet radio problems with .asx urls

2006-04-02 Thread Michael Herger

Try this alternative stream:
http://ms2.radio-canada.ca/EspaceMusique.ogg.m3u

But keep in mind that ogg can't be played natively by the player.

I'm using sb3 which I bought 2 weeks ago, running on winXP home,
and the urls that you all mentioned work fine streaming with
windows media player and the player from the station's site,
http://radio-canada.ca/radio2/index.html (the en direct button on the
left)just can't connect with Squeezebox.
Thanks again,
rg

See http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2368 for discussion and
workarounds. Some things called WMA play, some don't, and the server
can't tell which are which. Older versions of SlimServer, which simply
transcode all WMA to something else, play this stream. (I listen to
it, in fact.) Or you can patch the newer ones if you feel like it.

[slim] Re: internet radio problems with .asx urls

2006-04-02 Thread Siduhe

As Michael says, Slimserver won't decode Ogg natively. I don't know if
this applies to radio streams as well as .ogg files, but you may need
to install LAME on your PC to get this stream to work - it's pretty
straightforward, see the Wiki below. Upgrading to 6.2.2. may also help
- it isn't far away from becoming an official firmware release.

GDsqueeze - do you have LAME installed ?

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?LAMEForTranscoding - I'm using
v3.96 without any problems.

running the latest nightly release without problem accessing those
station (when installing the latest 6.2.2 server the firmware of your
squeezebox will be updated to version 36 I believe).
I was initially having problem tunning to Radio Canada using the
 original firmware.

Wow! after 2 weeks of trying it finally worked after I downloaded
the latest nightly update...thanks very much ! and thanks to
you all for all the help. (Works now with both file formats)

Try this alternative stream:

And for Premiere Chaine:

Both should work with the SB

OK - sounds like something more basic. How are you trying to tune into
the url - via the Radio Tune In box in the Help Menu of the web
interface, or some other way ?

Also, can you tell us a bit more about the setup of the box running
slimserver - PC / Window, linux ?
