Re: [slim] SB3 doesn't like microwave

2007-11-25 Thread liffy99

Wah

Changed router channel to 13 - dire, everything just tuttered.
Changed to channel 1 and now the SB3 survives the microwave, my higher
resoultion (24/48) ripped vinyl files all get through without missing a
beat, and I'm sure the whole shebang sounds a little better (but that's
just probably wishful thinking).

Thanks a million . . . .

Alternatively, get Homeplugs - just Google for sites - and use the wired
connection.

I went with these recently as I got hacked off with my Squeezebox
suffering from interference whatever channel I selected. I could go
for days or weeks after switching channels, but eventually the source
of the interference would track me down, and kill my music.

About £50 for a pair, plus delivery is what I paid - no more drop outs!

Its exactly as easy as that! Change the channel to, say, 1. You'll
probably need to restart the devices that are wirelessly connecting to
it, but thats it. Test your SBs to see how its all working (might you
have interference from neighbours with their own WLANs?). If channel 1
isn't reliable try channel 13. Then heat a bowl of water in the
microwave and see if the SB keeps working...

Change channels in the router ? Agh, this is where my lack of technical
expertise rears its head !

I have two SB3s connected wirelessly and a QNAP server ethernet wired
to the router (Phillips).

Thanks

Re: [slim] SB3 doesn't like microwave

2007-11-14 Thread slimpy

I guess your SB3 uses wireless?
The microwave emitts radiation in the same frequency band in which the
sb3's wireless card operates (2.4GHz).
Try to switch the wireless channel in your router configuration to see
if this improves things.
A filter in the mains socket wouldn't help at all.

Like slimpy says. I had exactly this problem, it was fixed by changing
channel. Remember that the channels overlap a lot so going from 1 to
2, say, won't do very much for you...

Just installed a third SB3 in the kitchen - which happily stutters and

My microwave kills all WiFi in the house. I guess I could just buy a new
microwave. In the meantime, I ran CAT5 wire to my Transporter.
