It sounds like the machine is having too much asked of it. I am running
SlimServer on a PII (yes, Pentium 2) with 128MB RAM and Windows 2000
with no problems at all (admittedly it is a high-end IBM server). Try
removing or disabling any unnecessary stuff and it should run SS fine
although Windows XP might be a higher overhead!

[slim] Sluggish player control

2007-06-18 Thread warrenoslimserver

Hello, I'm hoping someone might help me with my sluggish response
problem. The server is using XP 2005 Media Edition, I have about 60Gb
of Music.

The main problem is the player, the gaps between pressing the remote
and it showing on the display make it incredibly slow and
unresponsive.

I've pasted the performance stats below.
Thanking anyone that can help!
Warren

This is on the definite lower end for specs with Windows XP,
particularly RAM given what else you're running. This would probably
run much better on a minimal Linux OS like DSL but that might not be
feasible if you're running Media Edition for a reason.

XP won't run very well all on its own with just 256 MB.
