Thanks This has been pointed out before, and it's clear by now that users really don't like it, but the developers had their reasons (e.g., to help support diagnose issues). You can follow some of the discussion of the bug (now an enhancement request) here: http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=10393 . The enhancement request currently has 10 votes and is targeted for release 8.1. It was also quite a long thread in these forums a little while back. -- dsdreamer -- "Dreamer, easy in the chair that really fits you..." dsdreamer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12588 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=66247 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Standby screensaver issue...
Hope someone can help with this. If I have been using my SB3 with Squeezecenter on my PC, and then press the power button on the remote to put the Squeezebox into standby, it shows the clock screensaver. Good. If I then go and switch off my PC, it starts popping up with "cannot connect to squeezecenter" - why? I am not attempting to use it! The only way I can get my lovely screensaver back again is to connect to Squeezenetwork and then power off again. This is not what I want. I only want to be prompted with the message "cannot connect to squeezecenter" if I manually power on my Squeezebox (common sense!) Can anyone help? [slim] Standby, sleep, etc
Wake on LAN is a very useful function of the new software. I used to find it boring to have to go from my sittingroom to my computer room to wake the computer there are a couple of other things I would like to see, probably as plugins. I couldn't write them myself. 1. I would like my Squeezebox to turn off after a certain period of inactivity. Jason's PowerSave (if it still exists, I can't get it by clicking on the link) is helpful but doesn't do exactly that. 2. (On a Mac, running Tiger) I can manually put my computer to sleep. But the basic Energy Saver settings don't put it to sleep after a period of time, I guess because SlimServer is always running. I expect I could write a shell script to force sleep, and then some variant of kdf's Execute Script plugin could run it from the Squeezebox. But at present that script doesn't respond to enough buttons on the remote. Also, for those not experienced in reading plugins, I think a detailed explanation is needed of where scripts have to go in order for the plugin to see them (and, perhaps, of how to alter the plugin if one wants to put the scripts somewhere else). -- Daniel Cohen ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
