You know about the --nomysqueezebox startup argument of LMS 7.9?

I never ever liked switching to mysb... avoided it. It was only
necessary when the software somehow broke. These days I avoid entering
my account info, and I eagerly await a version that ignores the
existence of mysb altogether.

It's not that he doesn't think Europeans don't use that expression, it's
just that he's very nuanced about his own well-wishing. For his own private
reasons, he wants Europeans to have a happy Christmas, while he wants
everyone else to have a merry Christmas.

Happy New Year to our still functioning community! All the comments are
right on point. What other forum has this much information, this much
available help, this many plug-ins, and is still up and running after
the product is no longer being produced?

Speaking of Slim Devices and holiday presents, I got a Boom and a RPi3
for gifts this year.

Oh yes mysqueezebox.com did collapse ever Xmas :) , but I thought it was
down to an excess of existing users suddenly using thier device ( the
capacity of services and websites seems to design at some avarage load
and not every user 24/7 ) and that the support staff was on Holliday so
the slightest issue brought everything down

You can easily create the same this sensation by getting a Google Home
device - spend hours of fiddling with atrocious software on a smartphone
to set it up, discover that most 'features' don't work as advertised, go
the laughably named Help Forum where nobody has any idea why stuff
doesn't work, encounter a flood of post headed vatiously as
'Help'/'Why'/'Doesn't work', etc..

The Home mini is actually a nice low-cost device let down by awful
software and non-existent support.

[slim] The Forum's Old Days on Christmas Morning

2017-12-25 Thread garym

Fondly recalling the old days where Christmas morning would create a
flurry of new member postings on the forum asking some version of "how
do i make this thing work?" And there was the usual "squeezenetwork
(mysqueezebox.com)" outages due to the influx of new users around this
time. I'm very pleased we are about to enter 2018 with a very nicely
functioning squeezebox ecosystem.
