[slim] Turning SHN Files into FLAC files
What is the best way to turn a SHN(Shorten) File into a flac without having it turned into a wave file first? Unshorten it, then flac it, and be happy. On a good operating system, you can pipe the output of shn into flac, but the result is really the same, as shn is lossless. To be honest I would not know how to start to set up a batch program and so what you are saying. When I say one at a time I mean one show at a time which might have 20 songs in the entire show. dBpoweramp will convert directly from shorten to flac. It also has a batch converter built in. If you have the shorten decoder installed and the FLAC codec installed, dbpoweramp should be able to convert a whole directory tree from shorten to flac using the dBpoweramp Batch Converter program. I can't try it 'cos I don't have any shorten files to test it with, but in principle it should be just like converting from Apple Lossless (ALAC) to FLAC, which I do with ease using this method.
