[slim] WEP problems
I have switched my network from WPA to WEP so that I can use a bridge as in my new home the signals don't travel too well. All 3 of my Windows XP SP2 PCs can connect to the internet OK, but my 2 squeezeboxes are showing problems - they end up with odd IP addresses (not the usual 192.168.11.x etc) and cannot find the slimserver on the right PC. Removing all encryption (yikes) solves the problem. Before I switched to WPA everything was fine. I am using Windows XP zero wireless config set to shared and 64-bit WEP. I am using a 5-digit code as the key. It has occurred to me that I might be entering the WEP in the squeezebox incorrectly due to confusion between hex and decimal. If my WEP key is 1 in the Windows XP setup screen, how do I enter this into the setup screen of the squeezebox - is 0101010101 the right approach? Any help much appreciated. From what I know, and from my own WEP setup, 64-bit keys should be 10 characters in length. If I enter 1234512345 in Windows, that exact same string goes into the SB. That sound like something that might be fixed by last night's release of firmware 37. greg ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
