I don't think anyone is picking on us at all.

2006-06-01 Thread moby_uk

I don't think we should slate this guy. He saw a limited offer bargain
and decided to share it with the forum. Had he have waitied till he was
home, most of us would have missed the offer - indeed it is not on there
today.

Your alternative suggestions, whilst helpful and valid may not be
appropriate. I notice (from the disclaimer!) that he works in a
financial institution, as do I. All external email systems are blocked
(under penalty of disiplinary action) as it breaks FSA rules on
auditing.

Life is too short to pick on people trying to be helpful.

Gmail springs immediately to mind.

I second that - Gmail works well in exactly the way you describe that
you want to use it; leave it open in a browser, and it quietly
refreshes itself every minute or two, making it easy to see unread
messages at any point. Works just as well for multiple forums (slim,
slim-beta, etc) via filters/labels. Plus, you get your signal/noise
ratio back in the black :)

And you can set it to keep emails there and forward them too. You can
also use it as a POP server if you want to read emails in your regular
client.

You could probably even get a webmail account that automatically
forwards messages to your work address so you only have to access the
webmail interface for sending email, not receiving it.

Surely someone has suggested webmail already?

Is that not an option?

You could probably even get a webmail account that automatically
forwards messages to your work address so you only have to access the
webmail interface for sending email, not receiving it.

So, post from home.

Don't subject us all to 43 lines of garbage just because it's more
convenient for you..

Yes, please don't post to the lists from work addresses with stupidly
long and irrelevant disclaimers.
