Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music2touch 1.4.3 for the Blackberry Playbook released
I picked up a 64gb Playbook very cheaply on the promise they will get the upgrade to BB10 this year. Anyhow, in the meantime it's doing duty as a Squeezebox controller and I installed Music2Touch. Main problem I have is that with approx. 6500 albums, the albums display takes way, way too long to come up on Music2Touch. I thought it was a album art caching thing, but it seems to be slow every time even if the app is left running to gather anything it wants from LMS. amcluesent's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10286 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88180 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music2touch 1.4.3 for the Blackberry Playbook released
Great app I use it all the time. One issue, though, is that the power button for turning on or off the Squeezebox (Transporter, touch, etc) does not indicate the current state. You cannot tell by looking at it whether the device is on or off. If the device is off and you push the button, it turns it on - but you can't tell from the look of the button. Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music2touch 1.4.3 for the Blackberry Playbook released
Altough I answered this already by mail here is the response: I don't think it has anything to do with the server version - this sounds more like a problem on the app side. I haven't tested it yet but it doesn't suprise me since the playlist is updated every few seconds to catch changes made in the webinterface/on the player. To be honest at it's current state the app isn't designed to handle playlists as large as yours. It may be possible by using the subscribe/notify feature of the squeezebox server - I will look into this. But I can't promise a fast fix. -- friedit friedit's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44812 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88180 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music2touch 1.4.3 for the Blackberry Playbook released
Ok, getting back to the performance issues mentioned above I have a bit more insight. It seems the server bogs down on large playlists, which is what I have been running almost exclusively. You see, if you run a pre-made playlist (eg over 300 songs) the whole thing loads into the 'current playlist' at once and i guess the server or M2T can't handle it. The overall performance of M2T is just trashed. I think this is issue arose since a recent server update. In contrast, if you run directly from media folders using, for example, Random Mix, the 'current playlist' size remains much smaller and everything works ok. When the song list gets to the end it just adds more songs and everything runs fine because the list never gets too large. The issue with large lists is well documented here: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76925&highlight=500 There are plugin solutions discussed that I believe are not currently feasible for M2T (happy to have someone correct me). One fix is to just reduce the max playlist size under 'performance' on the server - this does in fact fix the performance problems. However, if you reduce the max to say 100, then only the 1st 100 songs from a saved list will ever get added to the 'current playlist', even when random is selected. What is needed is a way to run saved playlists of unlimited size while having manageable portions fed into the 'current playlist' as needed. If anyone has a way to do this i'm all ears. Otherwise, this may be a feature add-on for M2T. -- jswhale jswhale's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=47827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88180 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Now that I've used it for a few days, I'm impressed with the functionality, and am so pleased that it continues to be supported despite the probs that the PB has in the market. Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music2touch 1.4.3 for the Blackberry Playbook released
I just acquired the app for my new Playbook, and am a little bemused by things. I have no way of choosing player on it. If my Transporter is already on, music will play through it, as if synchronized. However, it seems that the application has fixed on the Boom I have plugged in but turned off, and automatically turns it on. The volume controller only works to control the volume on the Boom. I can find no way at all to address settings such as choose player. That entire first screen of the Controller has no analog on my Playbook installation. I have the current version, just downloaded today. If that is the way it's supposed to work, it's a non-starter for me. Hi, Just installed version 1.5.4. Initially I had some problems getting it to fully connect with my Squeezebox server. The problem being the default web and CLI ports. My server was using the default web port, but CLI port was different. The Music2touch app 'connected' OK - but there was not warning that the CLI was not accessible. I spent ages trying to figure out why the app was not working then realised the CLI port was incorrect. Maybe there should be a message to state whether the web AND CLI ports are not accessible. Unless you see different covers in the webinterface there is nothing I can do. There is no database on the playbook for this app. All your playlists and favourites and so on are part of the squeezebox server (that's the whole idea behind it). I added the basic random mix function to the start screen - as of now without the option to choose the genres. I also added the shuffle and repeat buttons to the playlist. 2.) I get your point. Maybe I will find a way to address this issue. 3 + 5.) I will look into it. Thx for the feedback! I just submitted the new version. Normally RIM takes about 3-5 days to approve releases. Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music2touch 1.4.3 for the Blackberry Playbook released
I think this app is great and does most of what I need it to do. I have some suggestions though that would make this a full solution for me. I generally work from playlists so my suggestions are geared toward that. Right now I'm having to run the web based interface in parallel to achieve some of this. 1) Implement a randomizer function for songs in the current playlist. As is, I have to revert to the web interface for the server to do this. 2) In a long list, it's quite easy to lose sight of the song currently playing and it's a manual process to scroll through the list to find it. Need a way to bring the current song back into focus - e.g. flip to that song when the track changes or perhaps a double tap somewhere. 3) When I remove a song in the playlist it sometimes flips the view to the bottom of the playlist (which looks like a bug). For long lists, there doesn't seem to be a quick way to scroll back to the top or (as noted above) get back to the current song). A scroll tab along the side or some other means to scroll through the list faster would be helpful. 4) Some of the other PC Squeezebox players (e.g. Softsqueeze) have random mix and dynamic mix options. I think these would be great features for this app. 5) This one is a bug - I can't remove items from "Favorites". Overall, great app. Many thanks. -- jswhale jswhale's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=47827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88180 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music2touch 1.4.3 for the Blackberry Playbook released
One thing I forgot to add was that the Playbook seems to have incredible wireless range. I was able to connect to my router that is in the basement from the furthest point in my back yard (at least 80 feet away through concrete basement walls) and even from across the street. -- Rick B. While not exactly feature-rich at this stage, it does work well and seems fairly snappy. Going to be away for a few weeks, so can't review more until later. Thanks, -- Rick B. Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music2touch 1.4.3 for the Blackberry Playbook released
Success! I guess I was impatient and need to spend some time on the interface. I can now play songs and my SB3 is on. Didn't realize that I had to tap the "..." to make something play. I promise to play around and will advise how it goes. Thanks! -- Rick B. Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music2touch 1.4.3 for the Blackberry Playbook released
Well your player has to be turned on already of course. When you swipe down you see at the top left your player selection dropdown - it has to show up there. -- friedit friedit's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44812 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88180 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music2touch 1.4.3 for the Blackberry Playbook released
OK, I can now access my music. I used my Server IP address and the default CLI Port of 9090. I can select a song or album and tap the Play button, but nothing shows in the "current Playlist" and my SB3 has not been turned on. -- Rick B. I deleted the ID and password and the app launched. I thought that the ID and password was for the app so I just made one up. However, I get the circle thing again when I tap "Music Folder" or "Artists", etc. Please advise the IP address I should use: 192.168.1.101 - my SB3 OR 192.168.1.102 - SB Server Thanks, -- Rick B. Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music2touch 1.4.3 for the Blackberry Playbook released
Hi Rick, It should time out after 30 seconds or so and give you a popup where you can go to the settings. However you can also go manually to the settings by using the playbook "swipe down" gesture (just swipe down from the top bezel). Also deleting is the same as uninstalling. -- friedit friedit's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44812 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88180 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Music2touch 1.4.3 for the Blackberry Playbook released
Hi, Friedit. After a lot of problems trying make a purchase at Blackberry Appworld, I finally got it and installed it. It says it can't find an "active player" and I think the reason is that I used an incorrect IP address. Now it just shows a little circle going round and round. How can I edit the IP address? It looks like in "My World" I can only delete the app, but I can't uninstall and re-install? Thanks, -- Rick B.
