Re: [slim] Adding new music to SS database quickly
If you type "scanner" as I suggested you should be given a "usage" dump which lists all the arguments. You can point it at a specific directory, though I find (on my non-itunes system) that just letting it scan the whole thing doesn't take too long (it looks for changed files). I meant details of the arguments - your suggestion made it sound like you can direct scanner to look in a particular place, rather than scanning everything. -- jezbo jezbo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9888 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42481 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Browse Music Folder isn't available when the database is integrated with iTunes. Where can I find info on invoking scanner from the command line? -- jezbo jezbo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9888 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42481 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Adding new music to SS database quickly
The usual fix for getting to new music quickly is just to use the Browse Music Folder facility to browse to where the music is - that forces a scan of just that directory and adds the music to the database. Or you can force a rescan any time you like using the web interface (server settings). Or you can run the scanner from a command line - I have this built into the scripts I use for my ripping process, so that as soon as all the files are in place a new scan is kicked off. It only takes a minute on my machine. Warning - I don't use iTunes so some of this advice may have to be adapted for your case, try reading the wiki beginners page on iTunes.
