Re: [slim] Question about SB3 with multiple wifi access points
I have a solution that works for my access points and devices that I want to connect. It may be too inconvenient for others. I have MAC filtering set up on one access point, with all my devices *except* one SB having their address accepted. That way, the SB is forced to connect to the other access point. -- danco danco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=210 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41687 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Question about SB3 with multiple wifi access points
Thanks for the answer. Yes, both access points have the same SSID right now for laptop roaming. However, I suppose I could change that if that's the only option. -- lanierb lanierb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5566 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41687 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Question about SB3 with multiple wifi access points
I take it you mean that both of your APs have the same SSID (name) Sorry, that tends to be how most wifi clients behave.. once they associate to an AP, they like to lock on to them until they can't see it anymore, and then they go looking for a new one. Here's my idea: Option 1: Rename one of them based on locality.. (foo-upstairs foo-downstairs, whatever) Option 2: If you want to be able to roam with a laptop with the same SSID for both you could create a second Virtual AP on one of them and associate the Squeezeboxes that are close to them to the virtual. This will probably require a linux-hack firmware like ddwrt or openwrt. Option 3: Get another AP for the SB so it can have it's own SSID. -- SuperQ SuperQ's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2139 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41687 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
