Bingo! Plugging the SC PC into the router has cured the problem.
Thanks

I'd try as jth suggests...eliminate the powerline part of your network
as a possible source of the problem.

Just one other thing I'm sure you've checked already...firewall on the
XP system.

Wel, don't you have a router and/or modem of some kind? These devices
usually have a DHCP server.
Some information of your networking setup would help us help you.

Re: [slim] SlimP3 looking for dhcp

2009-01-22 Thread BodgeIT

Hi,
How are you connecting it to your Squeezecenter? Crossover cable? Or
do you have a switch/hub on your network?

I had problems getting my Slimp3 to run on my network until I noticed
that it tries to auto-negotiate at 10Mb Half-Duplex. I forced to
connect at 10Mb Full-Duplex and have had no problems since.

SLIMP3 supports static IP if you don't have a DHCP server. You can set
this
up when the SLIMP3 is initially powered on.

I'd try to hook up the slimp3 and squeezecenter pc to the same hub or
switch and try to eliminate the powerline network as a source of the
problem.

Re: [slim] SlimP3 looking for dhcp

What does the SC logs say?

Did it used to work like it should? Any configuration changes?

If it's configured to use DHCP and can't find a DHCP server it will do
that.
Do you have a DHCP server on your network?
