This is unfortunate. One stream would make more sense and would
certainly be easier to synch. Oh well, I guess it is not easy to
implement

AFAIK no. If you listen to the same stream on different devices (even  
synchronised) it will connect twice to the remote server.



Can I use WMA player on Windows XP box to keep the stream alive? Can I
use SoftSqueeze to keep the stream alive?


As each device uses its own stream you can't.
