Bear in mind that users living in Denmark and Norway (DK for me) have become used to watching with envy as network players are marketed with support for Pandora, Napster, etc., for those happy punters living in the US. For me, Wimp is a great thing as this is basically what is available here, apart from internet radio. No Napster, no Pandora, no amazon no nothing. > Is there any chance of support for 256kbps/AAC on the SBReceiver ? Here's the good news: WiMP handled quickly and now allows us to stream MP3/256kbps to _all_ players. If you're running your own SBS you'll have to update to the latest 7.5.2 or 7.6 nightly, or install the updated WiMP plugin from Settings/Plugins in the web UI. -- Michael ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Transporter using Wimp
Hi Claus, I have a Squeezebox Duet, and I did the following to make it work: 1. Logged on to http://mysqueezebox.com/appgallery/WiMP, and installed the plugin hitting the Install-button. I then hit Configure and entered my phone number and password for my WiMP account. 2. Logged on to my Squeezebox Server software, applied the WiMP plugin in the Plugins section. 3. Opened the iPeng app on my iPhone, hit "My apps" and entered the WiMP application from here. PS. I never found a WiMP entry in the Squeezebox Server home menu though... Strange. //Stian -- stianmi stianmi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40730 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82260 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Unfortunately I cannot get it to work. I have a Squeezebox Duet and have successfully installed the plugin in my SBS. Hovever when I click configure I am redirected to mysqueezebox.com/appgallery/WiMP but the plugin is not there. I then tried to register my squeezebox on wimp.no/sbox but the form only works for Norwegian mobile phone numbers as a password will be sent to your phone. So, am I missing something or does this only work for WIMP users in Norway? Is there any plans to solve this? Re: [slim] Transporter using Wimp
My understanding is: 1. Linux based players (Radio and Touch) do native decoding of the 256kbit/s stream. 2a. Older ip3k based players don't do native decoding of any AAC format at any bitrate. 2b. Transcoding for ip3k players is done by the local server using faad. 2c. faad is not capable of transcoding the 256kbit/s stream (although the native AAC decoder in the Linux players decode the 256kbit/s stream) 2d. For server transcoding using faad, a 96kbit/s stream is used. Is all this correct? -- sbjaerum sbjaerum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=237 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82260 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Transporter using Wimp
The problem is rather technical, but basically the 256k format is not a streaming format (MPEG-4 AAC), while the 96k one is (ADTS AAC). faad cannot transcode a streaming MP4 because it needs access to the entire file. -- andyg andyg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3292 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82260 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
