Would anyone be able to tell me how to set up four different configurations? The only way I know to set up 4 different configurations is to create 4 different users and a config for each. Have the appropriate level student login as the appropriate user. Thank you, Alex. During the Summer holidays we shall be installing a new suite. As each child will be given their own login I shall create a different login for each group and see if it works. Another option is to give your users different UI configuration pathes and store the xml files for the toolbars in those different directories. This way you can still maintain your toolbars in a centralized matter while being able to have individual ones for each group. Re: [discuss] CCR Nominations / ISSUES CONCERS
Hi Ms. McNally! This may not be exactly on point with this thread but I have not been able to find an e-mall address or contact address to a human person for the CCR [Community Council Representative]. There only appears to be an anonymous contact e-mail address available. I have e-mailed a couple of issues to the CCR with no response. This is at least over a month ago. One, I think over 2 months ago. I have these questions: (1) Who can I contact for followup? OR (2) Where on the OOo site can I find the e-mail I sent (like in the mailing-lists) and if there was a response? Thank you in advance for your help with this. Re: [discuss] Help with graphic borders
Hello Pieter Badonhorst. This is not an automated response BUT. If you want to add a border, simply right click teh object in draw, and select line, which will probably be at the top of the context menu, and you'll be able to define whatever you want to from there. The line function simply defines the perimeter of whatever you've drawn on screen. You can also multiple select items and change them at the same time. Remember however that any line settings that they had individualy will be otherwise deleted as well. [discuss] Workbooks
While working on multiple document types it struck me that it would be useful to have multiple sheets for write as for calc. Or even beter the ability to have a work book with multiple document types. Is this feasible? [discuss] Calc Suggestion
I apologize if it already exists but how about adding a "text to column" Tool option in Calc. Give the app the ability to split text or data in one column to 2 or more columns based on a fixed length or delimiters. Excel has this option. Another idea would be to add the opposite, Multiple columns to a single column, a column merge. E.g. if you are working on a file/spreadsheet that contains individual fields for Last_Name, First_Name, and MI, but you need to merge those 3 fields for whatever reason. Calc will give you the ability to do that with options. You can use the concatenation operator to join or merge the columns. [discuss] OO.o displaces Koffice etc in Fedora core
Fedora core was recently released with a trimmed down list of packages (it already takes up 4 CDs) that are best of breed. OO.o 2 displaces Koffice, Abiword, and Gnumeric which move to the very useful Fedora extras collection. While this a credit to the suite, I'm wondering if it good for diversity ? Is it likely that distros will come to depend on OO.o code in the way they do with Gimp code That is will OO.o become a system component for example by previewing/transforming documents or integrating with document management and corporate DRM in the way that MS Office does ? I certainly hope so because that would mean OO was moving to support high end and larger corporate users which would be good for funding and support. IBM please return the code you borrowed ! Here is a useful Excel 97 feature missing from Office 2 beta: insert paste. The current Edit | Paste function replaces the selected rows/columns/cells. [discuss] Project manager for OOo
I was thinking a method of saving the current state OOo, that is, saving the status of all of the currently open OOo application windows would be a handy feature. Quite often I'll have 2 or 3 spreadsheets open along with 2 or 3 writer files. I'll get interrupted and have to close them all. It would be nice to reopen all of them to their previous state with one click. I did not find anything like this in the issues. I use a text editor called Vedit that has a feature they call Projects. It uses the multi-document interface and the projects feature saves the current state of all of its open files. MS, I think had a feature for Excel called a work book. Really this would be just a list of the currently open files allowing you to reopen this group in the future. It would be nice if the window sizes and locations would be saved as well.
