[discuss] use if-function in tables in text document

2006-07-12 Thread Architekt Bernhard Oberrauch
it would be nice to use the use if-function in tables in text document,
in order to construct more complex functions
as an alternative it would be nice to incorporate better
spreadsheet-documents into the text documents connectting the resuls
from the spreatsheet to simple tables or text (references).

The programm "Ragtime" could be a good example of what I mean.
with best wishes,
Bernhard

[discuss] Free viewer for OpenDocument, TextMaker, Microsoft Word, and RTF

2006-07-12 Thread Martin Kotulla (SoftMaker)
Just a quick note that we have released a free document viewer that lets
users open, view, and print documents in OpenDocument (.odt),
OpenOffice.org/StarOffice (.sxw), TextMaker (.tmd), Microsoft Word
(.doc) and RTF (.rtf) format:

http://www.officeviewers.com

TextMaker Viewer is based on the technology of TextMaker 2006. The
viewer is a free download and can be freely distributed.

I am very interested in your feedback.

It's an interesting idea, but I only see a link to a Windows version. If
you can point to a binary for linux or OS X, then I'd take a look. I
notice Works is not on the list of formats, nor is WordPerfect.

Did you use GTK+ or Qt to make the viewer?

What about just using Insert->Object->OLE Object->"StarOffice
SpreadSheet" in your textdocument. That´s the way to "incorporate"
spreadsheets into textdocuments.

The programm "Ragtime" could be a good example of what I mean.

A version for Linux and FreeBSD is in the works, but none yet for OS X.
The latter is on our longer-range timetable, though.

Writing really good filters is a huge amount of work. That's why we
prioritized .doc, .odt and .sxw.

The viewer is based on our own (in-house) class library/GUI toolkit.

And can it be also freely modified?

Can it be distributed when modified?

Do I have to publish the changes when distributing it modified?

No. It can be freely distributed, but it's not open source software.

Can it be seamlessly integrated into FireFox/IE browsers or as a plugin.

You can associate .doc or .odt files with it. When you click on such a
link, TextMaker Viewer will start and load the file -- in a separate
window, however.

Unless you use the option to hide the X server window and allow OS X to
manage X clients. You can even get X clients to appear as normal apps in
the dock. Try to research your stuff.
