3. Save as Microsoft XLS and open again.

4. Some Latin text is rendered as MingLiU. This does not happen for all files.

[discuss] OpenOffice Impress: spaces between Chinese and Latin text is fontless

2006-11-03 Thread lotus

OpenOffice 2.0.1 = latest version of Chinese Traditional-character version.

OpenOffice Impress, on Intel-based competer, Microsoft Windows XP.

Last time I reflected that:

1. If you have a line of Courier New in Microsoft Word, with leading spaces,

then those leading spaces are rendered in the default Chinese font

in OpenOffice Writer.

2. If you in OpenOffice Impress with Chinese charspaceLatin,

then the space seems to be fontless, and the font field is
blank.

Now, I have also found that:

3. If you in OpenOffice Impress with LatinspaceChinese,

then the space also seems to be fontless, and the font field is
also

blank.

Thanks.

[discuss] OpenOffice Calc: no way of changing hyperlink back to normal text

2006-10-27 Thread lotus

OpenOffice 2.0.1 (latest official Chinese-Traditional-character version),

Windows XP,

Intel-x86-compatible computer.

If automatic hyperlink recognition is enabled, then it will

automatically change all \\xxx and http://xxx; etc. into hyperlinks.

There is no way to change

The help says that:

1. Press Undo. But pressing undo undos text typed after

the hyperlink recognition. So if you type A B and A is automatically

changed to a hyperlink, and you type undo then you also lose B.

And there is no way of retyping B without A becoming a hyperlink again.

2. Do default style. But doing so change the whole cell to the default

style and you have to re-manipulate the cell's contents to your desired style.

But I don't want to turn off automatic recognition at this point.

So I would suggest that there should be a way of changing the hyperlink's

properties, e.g. text, target, etc., or changing it back no normal text.

Thanks.

[discuss] OpenOffice for Chinese (Traditional): copy-and-paste Chinese text gets wrong characters

2006-10-14 Thread lotus

1. OpenOffice Writer 2.0.1 (Chinese Traditional), Microsoft Windows XP (Chinese
traditional).

2. View the following Simplified-Chinese-character text: 查#35810; (cha2 xun2
- search).

3. Copy them onto Microsoft Word, Microsoft WordPad, and Lotus Notes.

Only Microsoft Word is correct. Others become 查豹 (cha2 bao4 - jaguar).

4. Then use Microsoft Word 2003 to view the same Chinese text.

5. Copy them onto OpenOffice Writer 2.0.1, Microsoft WordPad, and Lotus Notes.

All are correct.

Similarly #26631;#35782; (biao1 shi2/shi4, with shi2 as in shi2/shi4 bie2 -
identification)

becomes #26631;豝.

So it is suspected that it is a bug of OpenOffice Writer when it puts text

onto the clipboard.

[discuss] OpenOffice for Chinese (Traditional): font rendering problems in Writer and Impress

2006-10-02 Thread lotus

OpenOffice.org, for Intel 386 series, on Microsoft Windows XP.

Chinese (Traditional), version 2.0.1 (this is the latest official version).

1. Last time I reflected that if you have a line of courier text

in Microsoft Windows, and it starts with spaces, then

on OpenOffice Writer, the beginning spaces have the wrong

font (e.g. a Chinese font). This means that spaces seems

to be fontless and maybe rendered in the wrong font.

2. Now if you have OpenOffice Impress and set your

font for CJK (Chinese-Japanese-Korean) and font for

Latin to be different, then type:

XXX-Chinese characters

Then switch to Latin input and type t, so that you have:

XXXt

Then the t is in Latin font. But if you type (space) after XXX:

XXX -with space

Then this space becomes Chinese font.

Moreover, if you type:

XXXt to

Then XXX is in Chinese font, and t to is in Latin font.

This is correct. But if you remove the first t:

XXX to

Then all of to (including the space) suddenly becomes

Chinese font.

3. On Windows version 2.0.1, if you type underlined Latin text,

followed by non-underlined Chinese characters:

aaaXXX

Then they are displayed write. But if you are on Fedora Core 5 Linux

(Intel 386 version) with OpenOffice Writer 2.0.2, and type

underlined Latin letters IMMEDIATELY followed by non-underlined

Chinese characters, then the Chinese characters seems to

be partially underlined.

Thanks.

[discuss] OpenOffice Writer: lines in a table cell

2006-05-11 Thread lotus

Version 2.0, Traditional Chinese

Sometimes lines which are evenly spaced in Microsoft Word

do not look evenly spaced in OpenOffice Writer.

There is more space after the first line.

Sometimes for a bulletted numbered list in Microsoft Word,

there appear blank items when viewed under OpenOffice Writer.

I don't know whether they come from hidden deletions tracked from previous

versions.

Sometimes, if you have a table where all rows are numbered using the

bulletted list method, where one row is one numbered item,

saved from Microsoft Word as an RTF file,

those numbers are gone when you open it in OpenOffice Writer.

[discuss] OpenOffice Impress: autoplayback and keyboard manoeuvering

1. Autoplayback. It cannot recognise a Microsoft .PPS file

[discuss] OpenOffice Impress: Windows Help file (Chinese-traditional)

Naklas and person-in-charge,

1. The Chinese translation of the Contents tab should not be nei4rong2,

which is the direct translation of contents. It should be mu4lu4,

which is the correct translation of Table of Contents.

2. When you click open Help from Impress (it should happen

in any application, the Contents tab does not open the matching

item for the right-hand-side. As you click open the right-hand-side,

the left-hand-side does not open as you go along.

3. As a result, the index cannot find mu3pian4 (template for a slide)

and I cannot find how to make the predifined page number area in

a template visible in a actual slide.

4. And I cannot find how to pick up a colour from the screen (e.g. existing

text) (in Writer and Impress), or know that a colour (of text, maybe)

is from the current palette. When you select the colour tool, Microsoft

Office is pre-selected at the current colour, but OpenOffice is not.

5. Maybe I should find these answers in a discussion list. Thanks.

Open OpenOffice.org Writer 2.0 for Chinese (Traditional) and type in the
following text:

aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa
ABC、ABC、ABC、ABC、ABC、ABC、ABC、ABC、ABC、ABC、ABC、ABC、

Explanation:
1. a sequence of a-a-a-space, followed
by;

2. a sequence of A-B-C-(Chinese Punctuation:
pauser dunhao, comma douhao, or full-stop juhao)

You will find that you expect line-break to
occur after the Chinese punctuation, but it does not.
All settings are default, namely Chinese
punctuation should not occur at the
beginning of a line, but there is no such
restriction at the end of a line.
If you change the Chinese punctuation to a
