Robert Derman replies: There has always been a Linux version of
OpenOffice. If you go to the OpenOffice.org web page and go to
downloads, you will be asked what language you need, and then which
operating system, just click the expander arrow, and select Linux, and
then where to download it from.

Hi Ray,
I don't know what distro you are using but it sure must be weird! OOo
comes packaged with every major distro (I'm running Suse 9.2 which had
OOo 1.1.3) and if you fancy trying OOo 2.0 beta you simply download the
tarball. It worked for me...

All you have to do is enter linux as your OS before downloading.

Hi Ray,

Welcome to OpenOffice.org (OOo for short). I can tell from your
question that you are a newbie. We love newbies. Meaning new
users. There is lots of free support for OOo users. Since you
seem to be kind of a beginner, you might have basic questions that
go beyond just using the program to include what the community is
all about, how to get support, etc., etc. Those community type of
questions are good to ask here.

There is lots of free support available all over the place. A good
place to start is here:

Detailed user questions will probably get more detailed answers at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] That is a high traffic list. Also, most of
your questions will probably have been answered there, so you can
browse the archives.

Feel free to come back here anytime, though, to ask questions.
There is no such thing as a dumb question here. I was a rank
beginner once, and I am still a relatively simple end user, who can
right only a very few Linux script commands.
