Understandable. I really hate that. SYNHAK currently has a culture of "we need
to all consense on this issue or vote on it or something!"

I wanted to build a financial committee to figure that stuff out quickly, but
got sidetracked when those racks came around. Then we wanted to build a
community working group, but that got sidetracked when Devin wanted to "just
vote on it" even though he knew full well that the proposal needed another
week. Then the meetings devolved into screaming and yelling, so I felt
compelled to step up and re-steer us back into consensus and productive
meetings by being moderator. Then someone spouted transphobic bullshit and
moaned about a workbench I built, so I stepped away to get out of the toxic
environment in the hopes that the membership would maybe figure it out.

Then I hear that I'm being removed as Treasurer due to Devin and Andy's
persecution complex, so I started looking for housing in San Francisco because
SYNHAK is dead to me.

It died months ago when I was convinced to rescind my proposal to remove
Justin from the board. I have since lost all will to contribute in any
productive fashion other than to point a spotlight at the corpse and shout
"Behold! 'Twas bludgeoned by bureaucracy!"

Trust me, I am also incredibly frustrated at this. This is the exact reason I
wanted to open up the expenses account and why it has $3,000 of the grant
money in it:

* I was frustrated at how long it takes for money to be spent
* I hate handling reimbursements
* I hate getting nasty emails in my inbox demanding that I take time away from
my real-life responsibilities to figure out if someone deserves reimbursement
or membership credit
* To solve the above, I created a separate checking account with the explicit
purpose of giving champions the card to let them figure out how to dispense
money instead of just me
* Devin refused to participate in this system
* Devin has called for a board vote to remove me from Treasurer because I
won't give him money

Obviously, Devin has some personal issue with me and he refuses to talk with
me about this. The solution to this dispute is to remove me and kick me to the
curb without discussion or mediation. The height of passive-aggressiveness.
The lowest of scum.

Re: [SH-Discuss] 4/29 meeting minutes

2014-04-30 Thread Robert Rybicki
$50 a month is a ridiculously low amount of money to put aside for everything
the space needs, especially in the middle of a build out. The sink parts Philip
purchased came to a little more than $60. Craig had to run out to purchase a
drain trap that we forgot. We wanted to hook up the oven and we needed $90 in
wire. No one was willing to purchase it because of fear it would not get paid
back immediately.

If the money is being spent frugally to improve the space or build it out then
let the money be spent. Many people want to get things done faster than they
currently are. I am more than frustrated that there is grant money that has
been effectively forbidden.

This is actually news to me. Who does SYNHAK owe money?

I also have an envelope with something like ~$90 that Justin is supposed to
pick up, but I haven't seen him around the space in a long while. That money
will go towards paying dues.

Something else to keep in mind: I graduated with a computer science degree. I
am not an accountant. This treasurer stuff is something I picked up after
weeks of trial by fire. If anyone expects me to get it right the first time, I
think they should consider seeing a professional to talk about their delusions
of grandeur. Also, friendly advice as to what they want to see me do would be
most Excellent.

Excellent dichotomy. We hate bureaucracy getting in the way of letting us do
things quickly, but I'm not sure about this solution to cut red tape because
it wasn't pushed through bureaucracy.

You live in a fascinatingly delusional state of mind, Devin.

But you're right, I hate your guts and want to use my power of the purse
to...uh... I actually have no idea. Why am I doing this? Why am I being such
an outrageous person to you? What is this communication gap?

What is it

I'm trying to set up these cards that gives the champions the power to spend
money without having to go through me, and I've been open and transparent
about everything. I've also asked repeatedly how I can better my transparency
but have not received any suggestions.

What is SYNHAK's plan for replacing me? Are you going to magically find
someone else who wants to deal with this abuse?

If you want a picture of what it means to be SYNHAK Treasurer, imagine a boot
stamping on a human face - forever.

> * Devin - If I have to call her and sit down with a mediator to settle this
now then I will but it needs done. Because this is not how a non-profit should
be ran.

Should I post links to bizops@ about the five or so times I've asked you to
get the water bill mailing address sent to a SYNHAK address? What about how
you never sent a copy of the rack sublease to anywhere until halfway through
the first month of the sublease, despite me and others asking for it since
December? Is it in bad taste to also point out that Something New
Entertainment never sent the February check and I got the March one around the
24th? Whoops.

Oh, remember how G asked you for the full executed and signed copy of the
lease to be sent to me?

Where is that, eh?

Pot, kettle.

We've had that for a while.

ing to say
* Omar - one person on FRG commity was responsible for the raffle
* Becca - I will do it the month of May

* Phillip - Synhak money, synhak owes several members money for
build-out of the space, I don't want to wait a month or more for
reimbursed for the expenses

* Omar - Send me the reciepts and I will make sure it gets reimbursed
* Phillip - I'm tired of the beuracracy that makes it impossible to

* Omar - It fufills the purpose of champions
* Angelo - with the other clubs I belong to someone goes out figures
out the cost, makes a proposal, gets approved, gets the money before
the project is started.
* Devin - I initially opposed this proposal, didn't like it at all at
first: Reads out email from bizops
* Andy - Philip's here now, we're here now, we need this up an
running, why don't we just give him the money he'll go buy the parts
and it'll get done tonight.
* Omar - the way it's setup right now no money can be handed out
tonight, synhak isn't a place where you can go out and buy stuff and
demand your money back. You need to say hey I need to spend this money
for the space, for this project, before you spend any money. If the
membership agrees then the money is released. We just don't want the
responsiblity on one person, so that if they are not available due to
circumstances.
* Andy - If all we need is a verbal agreement then my bills need
reimbursed since it was discussed ahead of time.
* Devin - It will be reimbursed just not now, but me and andy have
been told no on reimbursments and just only us. Given reciepts to
others to get the money. Someone took something the wrong way, and
they are attacking back using the position as treasurer. But this
needs to stop right now, because it is discriminatory.
* Andy - alot of this stuff wasnt decided on until after the money was
spent.
* Devin - If I have to call her and sit down with a mediator to settle
this now then I will but it needs done. Because this is not how a
non-profit should be ran.
* Philip - Organization needs to have a mechanism in place to
reimbursed for cost, and second we need a mechanism to allow people to
go out and buy things to fix items at the space that doesn't take 3
weeks or more to do anything.
* Alex - the champions are the only ones that have the authority to
take over the treasurers position if it is not being fullfilled, or to
make sure they are doing their job. We need to call a board meeting to
discuss this issue.

* Omar - forward the proposals to remove Torrie to the public list
* Devin calls for a board meeting upon consensus of the membership at
the meeting
