[Discuss-gnuradio] E100 - Interface between OMAP3 and FPGA

2012-04-28 Thread Sameh Yassin
Dear all,

I need to send data from the OMAP3 to the Spartan3an FPGA. As I understand
,from the wiki and presentations,  there are two ways to communicate namely;
using setting_reg and GPIO.  The second way seems easier so I'll try it first.

I intend to set or clear the free GPIOS on the Spartan FPGA such as
over_gpio_22. I  added the following code to the example tx_waveforms.cpp.

        static struct gpio gpio_test = { 22, GPIOF_OUT_INIT_LOW,
"OVERO_GPIO_22" };
gpio_set_value(22,1);
//set gpio22 which is connected to pin IO_L30N_0

I tried to compile then I got the error that can't find GPIO.h.

My question: did I use the correct high level function or I used a "lower
level" that is used to implement the function?

S. Yassin___

This is the easiest way to toggle gpio's from userspace.

http://wiki.gumstix.org/index.php?title=GPIO#Accessing_GPIO.27s_from_userland

Also:

http://elinux.org/GPIO

The kernel on the e100 already supports the sysfs entries for gpio's.
(UHD uses it)

[Discuss-gnuradio] WX GUI Errors on MacOS

I'm having issues when attempting to use the wx gui sinks with OpenGL on MacOS

but I get exactly the same error when that is empty.

I've attached a list of the installed software versions. Has anyone else
experienced this issue or know of a workaround?

Cheers,

Steven.

Re: [Discuss-gnuradio] UHD with libusrp ?

2012-04-28 Thread Ben Hilburn
OpenBTS 2.8 has support for using UHD. That might be an easier route to
take.

Ben

Thanks for posting this - it appears to work just fine with an
Ultra-cheap RTL2832U-based USB dongle. Sounds pretty good too.

320Ksps input rate to the FM demod. Your problem might actually be
that you have a *bunch* of 50KW stations close by. Although with 70+
dB of dynamic range even at 12-bit ADC sampling, with the gain set
right, you shouldn't have too many problems.

[Discuss-gnuradio] GRC error - GThread-ERROR

2012-04-28 Thread Andy Knitt
GRC was working great for me two days ago. Shut the computer down
with everything working. Today I started it up (haven't changed a
thing) and now I'm getting this error when trying to execute
flowgraphs:

GThread-ERROR **: file
/build/buildd/glib2.0-2.30.0/./gthread/gthread-posix.c: line 348
(g_thread_create_posix_impl): error 'Invalid argument' during
'pthread_attr_setschedparam (&attr, &sched)'

Another flowgraph that will execute runs very choppily and poorly,
eventually locking up completely. All was well last time I had it
running.

Could anyone tell me what might be causing these issues and why it
seemed to start out of thin air?

Thanks,

Andy

[Discuss-gnuradio] openLTE annoucement

2012-04-28 Thread Ben Wojtowicz
I am pleased to announce version 00.05 of openLTE, an open source LTE
project (sourceforge.net/projects/openlte). This version includes a
gnuradio application that reads recorded I/Q downlink LTE data from a
file, decodes MIB and SIB1, and displays the decoded information.
This information includes:
- Measured frequency offset
- System Frame Number
- Physical Cell ID
- Number of transmit antennas
- Bandwidth
- PHICH format
- PLMN Identity
- Tracking Area Code
- Cell ID
- Cell Barred information
- Reselection information
- Frequency band
- System Info scheduling
- Duplexing mode

This version requires input data to be interleaved 8-bit I and Q (I
first) recorded at 30.72MSPS centered on an LTE channel. Please see
the README file for installation and usage.

There are limitations with this version that will be addressed in the
future. Some of the more pertinent ones are:
- Only handles FDD
- Only handles normal cyclic prefix
- Only handles DCI 1A with localized VRBs on the PDCCH
- Only handles normal PHICH duration

Enjoy,
Ben

Re: [Discuss-gnuradio] WX GUI Errors on MacOS

2012-04-28 Thread Michael Dickens
Hi Steve - I'd like to say I have, but I haven't yet. I'm still using 10.6.8,
and have a long queue, probably a month or so, before I really get around to
GNU Radio on 10.7.X. The only thought I have is whether MacPorts was installed
into /opt/local or /usr/local ... if the former, then I'm wondering why this
Python is from /usr/local . But that's all I have right now. This might be a
generic OpenGL and WX issue that someone who wrote that code might be able to
address. Good luck! - MLD
