[Discuss-gnuradio] OFDM Training Sequence

2016-03-19 Thread Mateusz

Hey, I do my Bachelor Thesis on OFDM using GnuRadio.

I am using the joint system created from tx_ofdm and rx_ofdm examples.
In simulation I try to use a bigger fft. So far I have managed to send
and receive for fft_len=128 and fft_len=256, BPSK modulation. I ask to
help me understand the creation of sync_words for bigger fft.

I see the influence of the training sequences which I use on the quality
of transmission. Of course I have read that the synchronization is based
on "PN Sequence Correlation" and "Maximal Likelihood" papers. I suppose
that sync_word1 and sync_word2 are based on those algorithms
respectively. However I don't see "two identical parts of PN sequence"
like it was described in the Schmidl paper.

I tried to use the sequences containing 0's where needed, and random
-1's and 1's elsewhere, but then the timing synchronization error
(missing trigger signal in sync_sc) occurs more often, than when I use
the replicas of original sync_words from the OFDM example.

I attach the file with the training sequences which I have used.

Regards,
Mateusz Loch

[Discuss-gnuradio] OFDM with noise - lost packets

2015-12-19 Thread Mateusz
Hello, I have been evaluating the OFDM examples (at the beginning of my
Bachelor Thesis)
In ofdm_rx I have added noise source and file sinks to plot BER(SNR) in
matlab. I added a Tag Debug on the output.
The result is disappointing, I observe plenty of lost packets already at
the SNR of about 13dB and below (noise amplitude about 1.5 in an
unmodified ofdm_rx).
So are those examples useful, with such a performance, to utilize with
USRP and antennas?
Which part of a synchronization process fails, that causes missing
indexes of data packets (observed in a Tag Debug) in a noisy channel)?
I think it's at the loop of 'header recognition', so it's the 'coarse
frequency offset' that is too big for 'channel estimator'.

I mainly want to know if it's only possible to use ofdm_rx with a low
noise, with SNR over about 13 dB.

Did you coordinate with the debian gnuradio maintainer? I'm currently
working on the 3.3.1 version of debian gnuradio started by the original
maintainer. Please let us know how things go. If you run into troubles
with debian (not) accepting your packaging, we could coordinate in order
to get the package accepted via the original maintainer.

Yes, I've done this already. Sent him the debian dir. I;ve also packaged
libuhd needed by upstream. I've received confirmation mail saying:

Thanks. I'm traveling this week, but I should have time to review your
work in a few days.

I've tried to bulid external signal processing blocks and had to add the *.i
files to the libgnuradio-core-dev package. I'll sent the updated version to the
mainteiner.

 Hi Mateusz,

how did you install? If you locally compiled a git snapshot, the stuff
 *should* end up in /usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages.

Other things you should check: is

I've installed by the packages that I've built. The standard configure --

[Discuss-gnuradio] ImportError: No module named gnuradio

2011-04-02 Thread Mateusz Jasiński
Hi,

I'm trying to build debian packages of gnuradio git snapshot (01.04.2011). The
build process is successful but I've encountered python related problem after
installing the packages - gnuradio python module is missing, so none of the
examples nor gnuradio-companion doesn't work. The error is:

ImportError: No module named gnuradio

I've checked the PYTHONPATH variable, and set it to:

[matt@debian ~]$ echo $PYTHONPATH
