 Assuming you've got /usr/local/lib in /etc/ld.so.conf...
 
  $ sudo ldconfig
 
 
 Or
 
  $ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib
 
 
 BTW, it's always helpful to tell us what OS and distribution you're using...
