Re: Weird focus problem with GNUstep applications in WindowMaker
I usually work with both options checked: 'Do not let applications receive the click used to focus windows' and 'Automatically focus new windows'. I just tried to uncheck the last one, as it seemed it could be the cause of the problem, but it didn't work: the problem still happens. Thanks for your answer anyway. - Eric - On 21 juil. 10, at 19:11, Gregory Casamento wrote: What settings do you have selected in the WindowMaker preferences? I had the same problem after resizing an already active window too. I tried changing a few WindowMaker options, like 'Do not let applications receive the click used to focus windows' and 'Automatically focus new windows', but whether they're checked or not, the problem still happens. Re: Weird focus problem with GNUstep applications in WindowMaker
Thanks for the info. It is more or less what I suspected. I chose Debian because they seem to be the only ones who have GNUstep packages in their standard distribution, but it seems they don't upgrade them very often. I checked the testing and unstable releases for the versions to come; There are a few improvements indeed, but they're still not at the latest versions. And besides, I'd prefer using a stable distribution. What are my options here? It seems the file organisation for GNUstep in Debian is quite different from the standard one, so getting the latest sources and compiling them myself is quite likely to mess things up completely. Is there an unofficial repository somewhere that would allow to upgrade to more recent versions without breaking everything? OTOH, backports are useless because of the SONAME bumps. The latest Base/GUI/Back is in experimental, waiting (8 months already :-() for permission from the Release Team for the library transition. And besides, I'd prefer using a stable distribution. I am using even an even older combination on gNewSense (1.14/0.12). Some bugs are annoying, but still bearable. What are my options here? 1. Fetch the most recent Debian source packages, build and install the .debs. 2. Install GNUstep from SVN with GNUSTEP_INSTALLATION_DOMAIN=USER. 3. Purge your distro packages, and install GNUstep from SVN with the native layout. Debian is quite different from the standard one, The standard one for GNUstep, you mean. The FHS layout Debian packages (almost) adhere to *is* the standard for the Debian distribution; the GNUstep stack was threatened with removal a few years ago for non-compliance. ___ Discuss-gnustep mailing list Discuss-gnustep@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss-gnustep

I have binary RPM packages for openSUSE 11.2 based on gnustep-make 2.2.0, -base 1.19.3, and -gui and -back 0.17.1. These were, at the time, classed as 'unstable' versions, but were actually pretty stable. If you are interested, they are at: http://www.rstonehouse.co.uk/extras/GNUstep-2.2.0/openSUSE-11.2/i586/ Alternatively, if you can wait a couple of weeks or so, I am in the process of building the latest stable versions (gnustep-make 2.4.0 etc) for the recent openSUSE 11.3 release, and intend to make binary packages available online when ready. Weird focus problem with GNUstep applications in WindowMaker
Hello all, I'm currently using the latest Debian Linux distribution with WindowMaker as my window manager and a few GNUstep applications, mainly GWorkspace and Terminal. And I have a weird problem with the keyboard focus. The problem seems to happen only when a window is focused automatically by WindowMaker.
