Hello,

I've updated the Excel spreadsheet to version 0.02, and it now supports
both Excel 97 and 2000. The link is the same as before, namely:

http://www.loffs.com/Domains/Tools/tools.html

Thanks to Elliott Stambouli for prompting the fix that lets it work
under both versions of Excel.

If you'd like to keep apprised of any future releases, or care to share
ideas/code, please email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Sincerely,

George Kirikos

chuckle Funny that a site called ASP Help
would publish pages with a .htm extension. You'd
think they'd automatically make everything a .asp
page!

By the way, I found that the spreadsheet hangs (for
unknown reasons) in Office XP Beta 2. Haven't yet
tried it with the XP Corporate Preview

Shameless self-promotion, I know, but we've had a free whois tracker for a
while now:

With self promotion like this you should also mention that
ASPWhois is not being offered for free but requires payment.
This spreadsheet is offered for free to all resellers.

Hi,
just to make know I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH ASP help.

I have only bought ASPWhois a couple of days ago, and I
do not think EVERY single software has to be free.

However forget it, and excuse me.

Then there's also phpwhois.com, which is the whois class object that
powers easywhois, and it's GPL-ed

I think everyone needs to breathe (in, out) and learn how to read. :)

*My* post was shameless promo. I never said Giuseppe's was. And *I* was
able to realize that he has nothing to do with ASPWhois. He was just
suggesting it as a tool if anyone else wanted to build a whois tracker.

Excel Spreadsheet to track registrar changes (to avoid hijacking)

2001-04-23 Thread George Kirikos

Hello,

--- alan [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
I 'm painfully having our office verify all 350 domains that
belong to our Company and Clients that are Registered through
 OpenSRS.

I did a quick hack in Excel today that can automate the process
somewhat. It's a bit ugly, but it seems to work.

See the solution at:

http://www.loffs.com/Domains/Tools/tools.html

One can input all of one's domain names, and then have Excel query the
WHOIS info to determine the current registrar (OpenSRS = Tucows Inc.)
I tried it for 20 different domains (with different registrars), and it
seems to work.

I'm not sure how robust this spreadsheet is, in terms of error
checking, etc., as I didn't get any errors or connection problems to
the 'net. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Hint for Verisign: format your output as tables, so that we can grab
the data we need more easily!
