No, you're right. Google Apps provides versions of some of Google's software to run via your domain name instead of the google.com domain. Re: [ACFUG Discuss] Looking for a CF Host
Google App engine will soon support Java apps, but the JVM version they will use is still up in the air. Most likely it will be their own port, which may run CF, but will be unsupported. RE: [ACFUG Discuss] Looking for a CF Host
Wow, if by that they mean that you can drop in a WAR or EAR, then we'll be in business, whether with CF, BD, or Railo. Cool to hear. I did a little googling and found some resources pondering it (but no specifics of if it's just the language or war/ear deployment): http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/03/26/get-ready-for-java-on-appengine/ Interesting to see Spike Washburn (a CFer) of Stax fame pointing it out as a solution. I suppose we should mention it here as another alternative. http://www.stax.net/ (BTW, if I may, while we don't tend to announce the CFUG events here in the discussion list, for any reading this, note that I posted to the acfug.org site last night my 2 talks for next Wednesday. The details are of course also offered on the announcements list.) /charlie From: ad...@acfug.org [mailto:ad...@acfug.org] On Behalf Of phi1...@gmail.com Sent: Friday, March 27, 2009 9:00 AM To: discussion@acfug.org Subject: Re: [ACFUG Discuss] Looking for a CF Host Google App engine will soon support Java apps, but the JVM version they will use is still up in the air. [ACFUG Discuss] Images as Checkboxes
I was thinking about something, and I am not sure if I have ever seen it or not. Can anyone make recommendations on a control or a way to make images act like check boxes? Re: [ACFUG Discuss] Looking for a CF Host
Peyton: The last time I checked GoDaddy, they did not support ColdFusion. It now appears that they do, at $1.99/mo extra. Their cheapest plan would then be about $7/mo, which is more than what I pay at Hostek ($5/mo). Forrest C. Gilmore = PEYTONTODD wrote: Just wanted to thank everyone for your site recommendations. Dusty’s question got me curious. There’s good news. On the surface, it looks like it’s free for a “club, family, sports team or group”: http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html And one may wonder if that applies to businesses. Well, if you look at the comparison page: http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/business/editions.html It does say that “Both editions include…Gmail and Google Calendar to help businesses save money and keep employees connected”. And that’s the 50-user-account-limited one you refer to Dusty, so it seems they’re kind of guiding people to the commercial one for business, but it’s not mandatory (of course, the features may make a difference, and at only $50 per user account per year, those additions could be cheap for some companies.) Just to be clear, there’s also the free editions for non-profits (http://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/org/index.html) and schools (http://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/edu/index.html). /charlie *From:* ad...@acfug.org [mailto:ad...@acfug.org] *On Behalf Of *Dusty Hale *Sent:* Thursday, March 26, 2009 8:09 PM *To:* discussion@acfug.org *Subject:* Re: [ACFUG Discuss] Looking for a CF Host I second the recommendation on Google Apps. I've used for a year or so and it has been a blessing for me. I was under the impression it is not free anymore though since it is no longer in Beta. Am I missing something about that. I got in when it was still in Beta and it still runs great for me at no cost. look no further than GMail for a example :) On a slow connection, you can actually see each check box loading. Basically just toggle the src in JS, eh? Re: [ACFUG Discuss] Images as Checkboxes
Done it, and toggling with JS is how I did it. I don't have the sourcecode (did this quite a while ago), but I don't recall it being particularly tricky. I did have the luxury of dictating the browser Dawn On Fri, Mar 27, 2009 at 5:20 PM, Douglas Knudsen douglasknud...@gmail.comwrote: look no further than GMail for a example :) On a slow connection, you can actually see each check box loading.
